Size & Distance

Looking at most a 42" HD TV flat panel.  That is the largest I can go based on my fireplace location.  My viewing distance is going to be about 12'  So my question is do I really need the highest quality picture being that I'm 12' away and probably not going to tell the difference.  I guess I could look from that distance in the store but wanted to get some input. Thx

Here's an article that should answer your question:

Maxing Out Resolution

At your distance, I think anything over 720p is overkill, but an HD picture should give you more detail at that distance than an EDTV.
