Umm...after writing that, I just tried it on my DLP.  It doesn't work.  But it does on my Panny plasma upstairs.  The only difference between the two that I can think of is the resolution settings.  (My DLP does not support 480i on the component input.)  My guess is if you select your native HD format AND 480i, it should work when tuned to a 480i source.  Be sure your TV supports this on the component input you are using, or you may get baaad results!

Lemme know what happens....

Do you know when the DVR software is scheduled to start rolling?

Nope, but it will likely be done by DVR type.... i.e: all the 8300HD's at once.

Will we just get it with an upgrade on our 8300HD DVDs as we get the switched digital video turned on or will there be some sort announcement, beforehand?

I don't know about the specifics in terms of notifications.  The roll out is totally independent of the switched digital subject you alluded to.
It's a new interface with different code under the hood.  IMO, it seems more stable (picture wise) than the Aptiv code we had been using.  I can now record one HD show and watch another on my 8000HD without the box breaking up and the audio popping every 5 minutes.  It has rebooted a couple of times though, so not so much improvement in that arena yet.

I'll admit it, I'm nosy and want to see the new tools.  Do I have any options (reboot) or do I just have to wait it out?

The TWC website has some information on it and shows its features.

Is the guide itself 16x9 or still 4x3? This is my biggest complaint with the current guide. A total waste of space.

Still 4x3 and the search parameters are very slow, if they work at all!  However I'm really waiting for the CallerId to appear in the software...hate reaching for glasses to read the callerid on the portable phone when I'm watching Tv just to find out it's a Political Hack or some Fund Raiser.

Quote from: steve053;35385I got my letter yesterday (Monday 10/16) which said that they would be updating my software on 10/17......

As of 7 a.m. on 10/17 it's not updated.

Update-

Got a second letter from TWC Nov 1 saying that the new software would be update that week.

Well, last night, 11/16 I noticed it was finally installed.  Not too bad.  It fixed a couple of annoying things for me:
- prior to upgrade I couldn't access the menue while on 530 (ESPN HD)
- prior to upgrade there was no audio or video when viewing the menue from any HD channel (still no video, but at least there is some audio)
