What the heck is  going on with the game today?  It seems like it is only in HD half the time?  I'm watching it OTA - so this isn't the cable provider issue..

Is this a network issue, or is it our local affliate forgetting to flip the switch to turn on HD after commercials?

This is weird, cuz normally FOX does a very good job with HD...

Maybe no one is saying anything because nobody watches the Packers anymore?

Heynow

I have noticed the same thing.....All I can figure is that some moron over Fox 6 is forgetting to turn on the HD. It is really annoying, and make me want to call them and tell them what I think.  :)

It's not just the Packer game.  It's across the FOX network.

After the Morency fumble in the first quarter they flipped the switch to the hd feed on Vikes-Lions game. That lasted just long enough not to see the replay of how he fumbled.

It is the twice a year Sun outage. With sat bandwidth at a premium, there is no backup HD feed so during the few minutes of outage on the HD feed stations go back to SD. Every network and every station (in fact even D* and E* subs) are effected by this, just at different times of the day depending on the sat they are aimed at.

Thanks for the explanation - it makes perfect sense - and it was nice that you took the time to explain the issue.

Thank you!

Agreed, Thanks FoxEng.

Advice for next time: it'd be nice if you could have some unobtrusive static message or scroller indicating something like "Interference is preventing FOX 6 from receiving FOX HD programming at this time. We will rejoin HD programming as soon as available."

I would be happy to but I don't work for FOX6. I am in North Carolina!

Ahhh... sorry, missed that! (Man, I wish we had more LOCAL reps here... no offense to foxeng intended!)

Ha I wish we had at least one local person from FOX 6... but unfortunately they are incapable of using such complicated technology as a PC/MAC to access the web and post something here every once in a while...  ;)

I don"t understand why the television networks don't switch to fiber optical cable to distribute their signals, across the nation as I understand it the  nationwide fiber optic networks, are overbuilt, and have far more capacity then used.  Why depend on satellites when fiber optic cable  doesn't suffer from sun outages

For mass distribution, sat is still MUCH cheaper. And loadstar, no offense taken. Glad to help.
