Just wanted everybody to know that yesterday I sent a nice little email to Time Warner inquiring about HDTV and the availablility of local broadcast in HD over there system.  Today I got a return call from a lady in PR.  She did not have much new to say other than TW is in negociations with 58 and 4.  She mentioned that I should put pressureon Ch 4 and 58.  I almost bursted out laughing... I told here that is what the local stations say to do about TW.  I guess it is a never ending circle.  The lady did say that she would pass along my email to the programming department and she would add me to her list of contacts.  So I guess the moral of this long message is to keep contacting TW and the local stations saying that there is demand for this type of programming.

Thanks for the update. There are some of us out here with serious OTA reception issues. My only hope may be cable HD. TW has it's service problems, but the HD cable box is working for me. I will let TW know that there are people interested in HD from the local channels and encourge others to do the same.

I understand that people that have popped for the $500 STB and spent a few weekends on the roof positioning an antenna have written off TW cable. For many, TW carrying local HD broadcast is a very practical way to get HD. With the purchase of an HD TV set and subsription to digital cable service they get a HD set top box. HDNET is the only thing that will probably not be available without a satellite dish. Keep up the dialog with TimeWarner SugarRay.

Thanks for the update!  I do have a basic idea why both sides recommend pressure on the opposing side.  They're obviously in talks for business reasons and the more response they get from the viewers affects the perception of how popular HDTV is.  I certainly don't know what's involved specifically in those discussions, but letting everyone know that TWC customers want HD programming is important!

What is the email address to use to put pressure on TWC?  I have been trying to put pressure on them for months by calling them but I can't find anyone who knows what HD is.

To the admin's:  Thanks for the nice website!

I agree with JoeK about HD-Cable's practicality.  Other Time Warner Cable markets (Houston, Orlando, NYC, etc.) carry a complete lineup of network HD channels.

Jim Hall is pro-active with CBS-HD, but it doesn't sound like TWC is on the same page.  Does anyone has a contact name at Time Warner Milwaukee to get things rolling?

Thanks!!

I emailed Time Warner at their web page - www.timewarnerwi.com.   I went to the 'Contact Us' section and then selected other.  In my email, I was real nice in asking for further information.

In Tim Cuprisin's column he mentions a phone number to put the pressure on TW to carry WHA...

I suspect that the number is the  same for folks looking for locals in HD on Time Warner...

And that number is:
414-908-4812

Thanks, Tim!

I also sent an e-mail to TWC and got this reply:

I have recently received your email to Time Warner Cable regarding your request to add more HDTV channels.  This program format comes directly from the source of the channel and is the channels decision to provide Time Warner with that format.  If you would like to receive this format for any channel specifically, please write or call to that channel.  Time Warner would be more than happy to provide you with the addresses, email addresses, or phone numbers for any channel in particular.  Please call our customer service team 24 hours a day at 1-800-627-2288 or write to us via the Time Warner Cable website.

Thank you for using Time Warner Cable!

Typical Time Warner.  I sent this reply to 4 and 58 but I haven't gotten a response from them yet.

Thanks for post Warzo.  That's more info than I've ever received from TW on several attempts.

TW Response:  "This program format comes directly from the source of the channel and is the channels decision to provide Time Warner with that format."

So according to TW, it's CBS-58's decision that we don't have CBS-HD on cable?

Is this accurate?

This is the response I recieved from TW yesterday:

I have recently received your email to Time Warner Cable regarding the different channels that offer the HDTV feed.  The date these channels will broadcast in HD is unknown due to the signal coming directly from each channel, not Time Warner Cable.  The few channels that have already chosen to broadcast in HD format have made us aware so that we may pick up that signal.  We look forward to accepting such acquisitions in the future.  If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our customer service team at 1-800-627-2288 or via email at the Time Warner Website.

Thank you for using Time Warner Digital Cable!

Atleast now they are saying there have been some communication with two channels(58 and 4?) and they will pass the signal, hopefully soon.
