I want to start by saying how much I appreciate this web site and those who contribute to the forums.  This is my first posting but I've been monitoring this forum for several years.  Thanks in large part to what I've read here I had the knowledge to make an informed decision last week when I purchased my first HDTV.
I got the Samsung 40" 1080p LCD (LN-S4095D).  It got good reviews on the internet so I checked it out in person and its picture quality trumped everything else that's LCD based at Best Buy.  The only lacking areas that I found are no number based "strength of signal meter" and no QAM tuner.  I knew about the QAM issue and didn't care because I decided I was going to get my DTV signals OTA via the built in ATSC tuner (which works extremely well here in the North Shore).
If you're looking for 40" 1080p flat panel for $3K or less,  highly recommend this model.

Welcome to the forum and your kind thoughts are appreciated.

Hope you enjoy your set and thanks for the comments about your new HDTV.

I have seen that set and it has a fine picture, even sitting at twice the diagonal to pickup all the subtle details in the HDTV pictures (about 6-7 feet away).

If you need any information about additional add-ons to make your HDTV viewing more enjoyable, please PM the good folks of this forum or just send us a comment or question as you just did.

Additionally, if there is anything constructive you would like to add to assist others please do so! :D
