LG reliability

Does anyone here have any experience with how reliable LG plasma and LCD sets are?  I searched the forums for LG and came up empty.

I've heard some good things about the PQ on some LG sets, but I haven't heard if there are reliability issues (maybe that's a good thing!)

I've got my eyes on either the 42PC1DA (plasma) or the 42LB1DR (LCD).

Thanks,
Rick

I used to manage a store that sold them (quit a month ago) and we had excellent results with them.  They were very high on the no complaint list.

Thanks for the info!  I guess that kind of stacks the deck against the Philips I was asking about ;)

When LG changed their name from Goldstar in 1995 that's all they did, change their name.  It was the same old Goldstar cheap crap. But they seem to have upgraded their stuff over the years.

I have been looking at all types of TV's for many many months now (feels like a decade, lol) and have settled on the LG 42pc3d.  For the money, it seems to be the best quality, most reliable and best company support (they have a 2 year warranty on this product), that is just based on my surfing and reading at the usual (CNet, AVS, pricegrabber, audioholics, circuitcity, etc...).

With it having a 2 year warranty, backed, seemingly, very well by LG, I will be able to save further money by not having to buy any additional warranty from the place I will buy it from. (on this set, a 4 yr warranty runs about $400 i think, so really, you are paying $400 for an additional 2 years).

Anyway, just thought I'd pipe in with my 2 cents since I am days from pulling the trigger on this plasma myself.

Use your credit card and get another extra year on the warranty.

I purchased A LG 42PC1DA from flanners back in late may of this year and have had no problems. They had all 3 of the LG 42's on display and in my eyes you can sure tell the difference. The picture is clean and sharp.  My only complaint is when I bought mine there was a $250. rebate and late last month they kicked it up to $500. Oh well :(
I feed it with both OTA and D- TV. For the money I don't think you can go wrong and a 2 year warranty to boot. Yes I think the pioneer and pany have a little bit of truer colors, but with a price tag to prove it. Good luck!!!!
