Circuit City in Greenfield has a KDS60A2000 on display as of Friday, July 28th  :D

I am going to check my CC Racine store for new SXRD...they are unusually up-to-date about this and if  not, I'll ask the manager (why not?) :)

Is there a good in-depth tech review of this set anywhere?

All I've seen is either fanboy ranting or blog spam reviews.

Edit:  Nevermind.  I just d/l'ed a copy of the user manual and it doesn't have Firewire on it.  Blah.

Cnet is supposed to have their review out this week.

So what?  Sour grapes, maybe.

Not everyone wants or needs firewire and besides,
now most fence-sitters have what they most - complained about:

1) 1080p inputs
2) No side speaker "wings" (also called "dumbo ears").

As for reviews...I too, am waiting for cnet's review (and misterjensen's) :D

Don't get me wrong, I love 1080p, and I love no dumbo ears.  I just need firewire for my HD sources.  Here's hoping they didn't dump it completely off their line.

Good review, just want to see this set - it's not yet at the Racine CC or BB stores as of last night. :(

What bothers me is that Sony left this unfixed SXRD out to cnet - of all reviewers.
Worse, do any of the stores currently (not near me) have an unfixed model out  on the sales floor (yet) or will, as it is not it's best setting, unfixed, IMO.

Yet, it is a good set, though cnet could not see the difference before or after the fix in the "filter"?

Will Sony fix this on all A2000's or was this just June's or July's A2000 "batch"?
Sony should send out a notice about this if the set is so affected, at least for the first few that went out.

Please provide us with a review of your new set once you get it in Friday, per your avsforum note...your carpeting is being laid today, right ?

(And the set arrives-tomorrow?) :D

Just an FYI, the set is now available for view at the CC in Racine.  :)

This store has one in stock of the XBR1 left and the 60A2000 in-box.
Sony's Hawaii HD loop is featured now on the 60A2000 and it looks really great.

I got to do a pretty detailed eval of this set last weekend, and I have to say I'm impressed.  Very impressed.  It had been tweaked a bit for colour balance, but otherwise it was unmodified (no filters added, etc).  If the new JVC D-ILA doesn't stack up to it when it arrives, I may just have to live with watching my D-VHS and my HD-DVR through component outs.  It does make me wonder what the extra processing in the XBR version will add to the equation as well.

gparris

mrmike: I am not sure I understand what component outs and your current setup would have on a decision.
Are you thinking of ordering a JVC 61" 1080p set or getting the 60A2000?

I'm awaiting the 61" (or larger) 1080p JVC because it supports firewire in/out.  I currently use a PC, a D-VHS Deck (or two), and a DVR which have firewire on them to archive HD content.  All of them (excepting the PC) lack DVI or HDCP outputs.  This means to watch 1080i from them on the 60A2000 (or its XBR big brother), I'll have to go to the analogue domain and use the component outputs.  I'd rather not do this if possible.  If, however, the display quality of the JVC isn't up to the Sonys I'll have to live with it since my current Sony rear projector is on its last legs due to tube aging and burn-in and my front projector isn't really what I want to use for day-to-day viewing.  Make more sense now?

mrmike: "Make more sense now?"
Clearly....thanks!

Looks like you might want to wait for the XBR2 60" SXRD as it has it all, just like the XBR1 had.
The difference is the XBR2 has (3) 1080p inputs 2 in back and one in front.

It may list for $4499 at abtelectronics,  but that doesn't mean it will be at that if they give discounts like misterjensen got on his 60A2000.

Your use of wirewire is an excellent example of why it should have been included in all HT products as in recording and 2-way connections (as in just one) for audio and video.

Seems HDMI is all the rage for connections, but you cannot record with it like you are trying to do....I understand.
