Once again the biggest news of the week is that WISN needs to interupt programming because someplace in WI there is a thunderstorm.. no wait there MAY be a thunderstorm between now and tomorrow.

Whoever is running this station needs to get fired.!!!!

MORONS.

REVM1M

I usually don't post that much but I was SOOOOOOOOOO mad that I had to post this. They are IDIOTS . I am never watching their local  news again :bang: !!!!!!!

AndrewP

They better had this game on Espn for 100% full HD enjoyment.
The game was great.
And we got lucky WISN did not ruin it completly.
BTW, I switched from them long time ago :-)

I just came in from outside. I had to because of the RAIN, THUNDER and LIGHTNING  here in Franklin.

So, what are you complaining about?

murdoc

Why can they overlay the "12" graphic in the corner, but not a map or crawl indicating weather watches and warnings?  Also kudos to ABC (read NOT WISN) for their lack of commercial breaks.

It's probably in the contract of the broadcasting rights, that no commercial will be allowed.  They made up for it by putting advertising logos in the score banner.

Which means you guys probably saw 1/10 of the HD frame. ;)

It has been raining and at times monsooning for two weeks. Some minor crap on the SD, but no HD preemptions, no gigantic additional logos on the national feed, perfect switching, and national upconvert for CBS/ABC whenever it's up. I felt like calling the Wiz today for the heck of it, but didn't because I was too busy watching the Red Sox lose in 19 innings of HDTV. :D

THANK YOU GBK, Exactly my thought!!!!!! Game was on at 12:30 p.m. NOT 6:00 p.m.

Oh, boy.  Can we at least keep this crap in one thread?

On a side note from me,  do you think that they will come up with a warning for rain?  It does seem like they do that anyway.

OK...so it is WISN's fault that the Storm Prediction Center posted a watch hours before the actual storms came in, and they were doing their job as a responsible broadcaster and passing that word on?  Is it WISNs fault that the area that was under the watch ended up not being the area that got struck with storms that were actually very intense?

Would you be this upset if there was an Amber Alert issued?  This will probably continue untill stations get the equipment nessicary to either put up their weather graphics without affecting the HD feed, or to do what others have suggested and put the info on a subchannel.  Right now, due to the realatively low number of people who watch HDTV (compared to analog), its probably not a high priority

First of all - due it during commercials. if its a watch it's totally unnecessary to interupt the programming

Second - since there is so little HD watchers out there... how about you don't put that idiotic 75% of the screen covered by weather logos and radar junk on the Digital video feed at all. and only run a banner on top like WVTV/WCGV does.  it gets the point across without destroying the quality of the program. and doesn't stay there without any usefull information... just replaying a completely useless radar.

Third - unless someone complains about the problem they have no incentive to change it at all either now or in the future (when there is more HD viewers)

yes it is their fault, why couldn't they do it like CH 58 was doing (Nothing on HD 58-1 but watch &warning on SD 58).

Actually, the area the Storm Prediction Center put under the watch DID get hit with severe weather, though many areas didn't see it. Milwaukee had 4" of rain in an hour. That's not just "rain". Also, nickel-sized hail and 60 MPH winds blasted them and Kenosha county, parts of which also got flash flooding. They did their duty as a TV station to broadcast life-saving information. Just because YOU aren't getting anything doesn't mean that the information won't save someone else's life, or potential injury.

BTW, the FCC mandates that emergency bulletins crawled on the SD side MUST
also be crawled on the HD channel. Since there's no real revenue coming in from the HD side, you see what you get.

Complain to the station to get an HD weather crawl. The bulletins aren't going away.
