Quote from: brock22You got a great deal! My neighbor went to buy a 2005 SXRD with a "10% off everything" coupon from CC. We went there and they said it was only for "non-sale items", hmmm, what's not "on sale". Anyway, American and Flanners actually matched the price AND took 10% off because of the coupon.
Did American say your TV would be available on the 26th? I'm looking to get the 60" A2000 also.

Thanks!  I think it's a great deal too :)  I was told that the website gets updated before the stores; the website is currently showing the 27th.  The ETA keeps moving all over the place.  I've heard as soon as July 17th or as late as August 20th!

Maybe that fire at the Sony plant a few weeks ago - not in direct production areas, as I understand it, could be the cause for delay...I believe it was in the packaging area. :(

Either way, I can hardly wait to bring clients to the stores for the new less-wide and 1080p-input-capable SXRDs, nevertheless, when these finally come in. :D

If anyone in the forum finds any of these A2000s on display, let us know when the time comes.

Thanks in advance!

Umm... I'm not sure what you're talking about.  We are talking about the A2000's, the new entry level SXRD sets.  The A2000's are the new SXRD's; they are NOT new XBR's.  New XBR's are supposed to come out this fall.

E2000 is designation for the A10 and A20 replacements, those formerly 720p and 768p sets with LCD RPTVs displays. It can be at times confusing with the new models.
A2000 is the model designation for the 50-55-60 SXRDs without the XBR logo.
These sets offer 1080p inputs and no "dumbo" speaker ears that were the most desired or requested changes for the new SXRDs and Sony listened.
These are coming out sooner than the new XBR2's in the 60 and 70 inch sizes, later this year.
The new 60" XBR retains its dumbo ears, adds a third 1080p input in the front, has DRC version 2.5 and the 70" has same but detachable speakers.
Hope this clears it up a little. ;)

Absolutely.

Im disappointed- Sony was going to make the new SXRD XBR2's without the side speakers.

XBR2 sets offer the 60 inch size only with the side speakers probably because some owners actually use them.

Hard as it is to understand that, I catch some of my installs, during a followup or fixup visit back, this very thing, sad as it seems. :(

The client actually turns on the HDTV's internal speakers for viewing, even when I have configured his HDTV, STB and AVR to go on with ONE button. :bang:
Their excuse is that they only use them for movies, but I tell them that many HDTV show are presented in DD5.1 and they are missing some really good surround sound mixes, (like the CSI Miami mix), etc., but to no avail.

I try to tell them that they are missing the full sound, if only for the setup as it is, but they do it anyway.

At least the Sony speakers don't sound half bad, IMO (it could be worse).

Only the 70" XBR2 fixes this with detachable speaker sides, like the older Qualia 006 it replaces with the A2000 being the other 60" SXRD alternative. ;)

Okay; I know I said American had a great deal, BUT I DID EVEN BETTER!  Abt Electronics (not far from Great America in IL) sold me an in stock 60" A2000 for $2899.99 + WI tax and includes FREE delivery.  They deliver 80 miles from the store, so Milwaukee is pretty much included.  My salesman was Erik W.; the price was price matched from J & R (//www.jr.com).  The customer service is unbelievable, and the store is second to none.  Seriously, if you have the time, go and check it out.  Flanners is NOTHING compared to Abt (sorry Flanners, I still love ya).  I could have already had the set delivered, but I'm waiting until next week because we are having new carpet installed in the TV room.

WOW! Awesome info! (and deal) I'll be in the Kenosha area today, might need to go further South...Crap, was at Six Flags last Friday. They had a ride called "The Big Drop"...whoa!!  I think Abt Electronics has an even bigger drop (in price)!  It's even worth it to pay the $3 in Ill. tolls.  :)

Yes, the ABT store is so big that that Flanners' store could fit in ABT's courtyard where the indoor water fountain is...but Flanner's is still an excellent store for Milwaukee shoppers and I frequent both stores.

The pricing only shows the amount of markup on electronics and they still make money on your sale. :(

Right now, you bought a new, 1080p-accepting 60" SXRD for $700 less than the sale price at CC of the older XBR1 I bought awhile ago...what stand are you buying for it? :)

As for that trip down to ABT, you pay a second toll at the exit (Willow Road, that becomes Palatine Rd), then turn off  to US 45 and then over to Milwaukee Ave Illinois Rte 21, go down a few miles and it is on the right. :D

It is still a nice trip...just carry more coins. ;)

I purchased the JSP Industries "Bolero" from Abt Electronics a while back anticipating the big screen purchase.  The thing that is so great about this stand is that it's not excessively tall, it has a HUGE center speaker shelf, and the side shelves / cabinets have closing doors and breathe well in the rear.  We spent more than we were planning, but it was EXACTLY what we were looking for.  Finding GOOD A/V furniture is next to impossible.  Check it out:

(PS:  That's not the price I paid for it...)

Didn't get to Abt after all. But did go to American in Oak Creek. Mr. Suit&tie there said they were excpecting a shippment of 80 a2000's (half 50" and half 60") an Monday July 31st. He said, "they are selling for $3699". Yeah, nice try. Anyway, I asked him about price matching and he said they match anyone's price. When I told him about JR's $2899 price, he said he doubted it.
I plan on going back next Monday to check them out.

misterjensen: Thanks for showing the stand...excellent.
Not exactly the colour I would use, perhaps lighter in shade, but very sleek and it will showoff your new SXRD.

There is about 8.25" from base of set to actual screen according to what I have (and you have) read in avsforums, so the 25" height of the unit piece shouldn't be a problem when sitting down to still look at the middle of the SXRD's screen. :D

The list price given is higher than some I have seen, not by much, however, and although you have not bought it for this price, many I know may have done so.
For example, my current side-pier shelf system first used with my original 60" Mits 4:3 set was all oak with top lighted pier and it sold for $1100 back in 1997...still use it, with some modifications, today.
More consumers are using what you are when chrome-and-glass don't do it for them....good job!
(Will there be pictures?) :)

What I would do is get misterjensen to show you a copy of his receipt if that is okay or have American call ABT for price matching, if needed.
(or just visit ABT and be done with it).

I did the reverse with American:
After getting a "best price" from American, I price-matched with a friend at CC and got my price (and purchase) there at CC, instead, for my SXRD XBR1.
Additionally, I also got my matching stand at 15% off list and a better extended warranty that is good country-wide (if I would move away) with bulb replacement vs. what American offers for warranty extension. :D

If you like it, it comes in a lighter color as well.  I'll hook everybody up with some pictures once everything gets put together :)
