I don't understand... as far as I can tell the answer is "Yes" since I'm able to capture from ANY channel.

Because the Dish box you have is not internally encrypted.  Unlike the TWC boxes.

Could you please explain the "R5000-HD modification" ?   If this allows the archiving of HD content (sat or digital cable) over to a PC I would be quite interested in that...
