Just curious on how every one feels about the lasest upgrade that was made a cpl of days ago on most of the HD set top boxes, was on the phone to one of the cust services assistant(who didnt even know anything about the model of my box, which is a Pace DC551P) and she said it was an update to imporve the quality of the boxes.Basically this so called upgrade kinda made it worse. It disabled the display button on the front of my box so i cant acess the menu (even by holding the # button down) so i have to go into the TWC settings menu and press the yellow button for more settings. This upgrade also makes the sidebars on my SD channels frickin grey instead of black, which i HATE.Anyways just wondering what everyone else thinks?

Can't comment on the finer points, but the grey bars are a good thing!  A black bar causes more burn in than a sparkling grey.  It seems backwards, but that's what was said a couple years ago, and I believe everything I read in this forum.

Its not that a grey bar causes less burn-in...

Its that a grey bar causes the same amount of burn-in as a regular picture...

So the whole screen "burns-in" evenly..

This, as opposed to the middle burning-in faster than the sides of the screen, in which case you will notice the burn-in more readily (as shady stripes down the sides of the picture) since the middle is burned in more than the sides...

Of course if you have a screen type that is not prone to burn-in, then the grey bars can be kind of annoying (I think)..

Gee wouldn't it be nice to have a menu option for this??

It sure would. Don't need grey and don't want it. I also don't watch much 4:3 to be of concern for burn in even if my set was prone.

Oh no! I just, today(!yeah!), bought my first HDTV and it's an LCD.
Before I went to pick up the TV I went to get a TW HD DVR.
I figured I just needed to RTFM to figure out how to make the border black.

This sucks. I hope we all call to complain and get an option for black borders created.

I would like an option for grey or black bars.  I have a DLP projector (no risk of burn-in) and I would prefer black bars because they are less distracting and create less ambient light.
