Maybe I am just uneducated, but why are they the only station that presents the commercials in fullscreen? It sure is nice not to have the black bars.

TNT-HD is awful. They're obviously not shot in HD, just like the majority of their programming. I have TNT-HD with Dish Network and I never watch it because the majority of their programming is not HD. It's just 480 material stretched. And the commercials, what a joke.

Thr Hd programming is crystal on "D". However, I do agree the programming is average at best.

I disagree. I fully believe that all content should be offered in it's original aspect ratio. This includes movies, television shows, AND commercials.

I have no problem with upconversion - I personally think that stations should pick a resolution, either 720p or 1080i. Any content not already at that resolution should be upconverted to that resolution and pillarboxed as needed. The pillarboxing should not be a graphic or text, as seen on ESPN HD. It should be black.

"Faux" widescreen by chopping or stretching just distorts the original image. It gains nothing.  It's like you giving me a $20 bill, and me giving you 17 $1 bills. You have more bills, but it's not like you have more MONEY... you just have the false impression of having more money just because you have more pieces of paper in your hand.
