Showtime Sound Drop Outs

It's been drivning me crazy...

Have become a big fan of Showtime's series Bul**hit with Penn and Teller. Have been DVRing (on TWC) the series to watch all the past episodes from previous seasons. When watching them back, every one of them is screwed up with sound drop outs. And they all seem to occur at similar spots: during an segment where and "expert" is commenting on their topic, and Penn offers his reaction as a voice over, there are 3 or 4 drop outs each time.

The rest of Showtime (at least the stuff we watch) is flawless.

Anybody else experiencing this?

Same here! It seems to happen when there's no motion in the image... like when they're showing an article or quote on the screen. Very VERY annoying. This is one of the best shows on television (at least for a crazy Libertarian like me)... lets get this fixed! :D

Tom: are you watching on ShowtimeHD? I haven't tried recording it from the standard version... the HD channel is the one giving me this issue.

Tom Snyder

Yeah, HD. After I started the thread, I wondered if it would be the same with the SD version. I'll DVR one and see.

Great show... 2/3 of the time I'm totally in agreement with them, the other 1/3 I'm wondering how they're letting their cynicism get in the way of common sense. ;)

The dropouts seem to happen when there is a still screen with a voiceover, and the voiceover gets lost or garbled...

I also thought I was the only one getting these drop-outs, and until now I blamed it on low signal level, but I guess its not just happening to me...

At the risk of sounding grandiose, I truly believe this show is the best show ever produced on television...

If it were in my power, I would force every single adult (and children too if I thought they could handle the vulgarities) on this planet that spoke english to watch this show...  I think the world would be a better (and a lot less dumber) place if that happened...  No, Im not kidding....

I cant think off the top of my head a single thing they have said that I disagree with...  I guess I would be curious to know which shows you think have violated common sense...

Anyhow, the dropouts are disappointing, and they get in the way...  Its gotten to the point where I can almost predict a second or so beforehand when they will occurr...

[Edit]

Right now they just started season 4 on Showtime...

Seasons one and two are on DVD, but each season is 3 DVDs each, so what I did was I got one of those online DVD memberships to get all the DVDs thay way as opposed to paying for 6 seperate rentals..

Season 3 is due out in July on DVD

Dropouts on Alias on TNTHD last night as well.

Was it the same type of problem where when it's a totally still image, the sound constantly drops?

Joseph S

For me it was only audio. Same as the WISN on TWC issue.

Mark Strube

It's only audio on ShoHD as well, but it only happens when it happens to be a still image, like when they're showing an article or (purposely) freeze the image on an interview to insert their commentary. This sounds like 2 different problems.

Joseph S

Still having audio dropouts on Alias on TNTHD.
