After hearing reports that the PS3 will run close to $1k, and seeing a deal at Dell, I broke down and got a xbox 360.  I must say, it looks fantastic.  Media Center and xbox live are also well integrated and the experience is very pleasing.  There are also a number of good games out now and a few more comming out this summer.  I think Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is my favorite retail game at the moment, however I seem to spend most of my time playing Geometry Wars (a cheepo $5 game that can be downloaded from live but very addictive).  Anyway, if anyone else here is looking to play online, my gamer tag is in my signature.

Mines BrewCityUpstart. I havent been on much due to the fact my weekends have been busy. Normally, we at OntheSPotgames get on on Friday nights for COD2/GRAW. As soon as more of my windows are installed I'll be more of a regular again.

I thought I read somewhere that they're going to lower the price $100 in October. I'll wait til then. Not enough games out.

I heard the same rumor.  Actually M$ announced annual price drops a while back, but I think it will be closer to $50.  Especially if the PS3 does come with a $1k pricetag and if Halo 3 comes out.  Now if Sony manages to get the PS3 below about $600 and Halo 3 gets delayed, well then I could see a $100 price drop.

Anyway, I got mine for a pretty good deal.  You might want to check here: http://www.spoofee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31713 to see if its still good.  It was:
Xbox 360 Platunum, Second Wireless Controller, Two Play and charge kits, 13 Months of live, 3 good games (PGR3, GRAW, FNR3).  The total msrp is $720, but dell had it for $630 plus free shipping after coupon codes.  Then it was simply a matter of returning/exchanging unwanted bundle items at a local store and getting store credit for the difference.  Thats a $90 savings w/o having to wait.

PS3 price was leaked in Europe.. it was around $600 I believe.  Sony's response to the leak was that the price will be lower than that.

Well after quitting my job last summer to pursue a new career and being unemplyed for a year while I went to school, Im finally employed again so I should be able to afford both.  I was going to get one and then get the nintendo revolution due to the ability to download retro games.  However, after playing around with game downloads over live, Im having doubts of the success of the revolution.  So I think Ill get the PS3 instead.

I do recommend the 360 though.  There are a number of good games out now and a lot more to come before fall.  And with the good deals out now, I say "why wait".

PS3 will be $499 with a 20GB hard drive $599 with a 60GB hard drive.  They also changed the controller design from the boomerang back to the current.. but it can now sense motion.

I was going to get a PS3, but it looks like they removed the force feedback, most of the expansion capability, and at the price of the PS3 its reported that one can get a Nintendo Wii and a M$ Xbox360.  Im now leaning that way again because then you would get exclusives like zelda, mario, metroid, Halo, etc.  Also the 360 now has games like FF and GTA (GTA4 launches simultaniously on both the 360 and the PS3).   Right now there are not many standout games that will appear only on the PS3.  Not to mention how nice xbox live has now become (vast improvement over how it was on the xbox1)  Its now a true community.  I know a bunch of people like the PS3 because it has blueray, but just remember how crummy DVD players and CD players have been in consoles in the past (and how noisy they are compared to stand alone units).
