How to mount a center Channel on a slim TV?

Just as the title says, I have been racking my brain trying to decide on the best method to mount my center channel.

I was curious what you guys had come up with.

I'm currently considering a center channel mount by omnimount.  Its the CCH-1 Media Mate model.

It can be found for around $16, so cost is not an issue with it, but it is a little ugly.

I could leave it under the TV, but I find that my carpet muffles some of the quiet sounds.

Any Ideas?

I've read that if you have the room, a small speaker stand (they design them specifically for center channels) in fort of your TV with the speaker angled up slightly at the seated position.

..earlier this year & remember seeing them at Circuit City. Might try their website.

Get 2 bookshelf L-brackets for about $2.

and do what with them?

mount it on the wall behind the TV?

No, there has to be a better solution, behind the TV, would be worst than below it.  I'm sure there is another possibility.

The front stands look nice, but sadly, I don't have the space.  I have seen some rather unique rear stands, but I'm afraid my cat would knock it over and send a speaker flying somewhere it shouldn't be.

I ordered the omnimount today, I'll tell you guys how it works out when the new TV gets here.  It looks like it may have enough room to set my bunny ears on it behind the speaker, if so, that wouldn't be to bad.

Well, how crazy do you want to get?

I had a Bose Center speaker that I didn't like the looks of. One day I decided to dissect it. I took out the drivers, measured the cabinet volume (non-ported) and made my own rectangular box to mount it in the wall with a generic wire mesh cover. Looks much better, but I can't move the TV without some plaster work  :(

I've also been known to open up the TV and install better drivers in it to use the TV's built in speaker grills as the center channel. Of course you need to like having a shielded cable hanging out of the back of the TV's case.

Yes, I know. I am crazy. But I also have a lot of fun :guitar:

Holy Crap!!! {fart}
It came this afternoon,

didn't realize the place I bought it from was in illinois.

MY initial impressions are good, its solid metal, and has a nice looking grey powder coat on it.  Just hope it looks nice on the TV..  We'll see

Howso? That's exactly how I've mounted all of my speakers. I have the center channel mounted on the wall behind the tv, and above it. It's just high enough so you can fully see the speaker in the main sitting positions, so that none of the sound is getting blocked. I also have the front stereo & surround speakers mounted with the L brackets... looks great!

Using a wall mount TV shelf works great I hear.

Just go to some place like Ace Hardware and buy shelf brackets. Measure your speaker so you know what size you need... they've got all different sizes and colors (white, grey, black). They're under $2 each.

Just wondering if you set this up yet. I am in the same situation as you and this looks like something I might try.
