As of April 18, 2006, Milwaukee SD locals are moved to 110.
So everybody installing Disn Network now can use insread ob a big SuperDish a much smaller Dish 1000, which most likely will be able to provide later this year HD locals, or very reliable Dish 500. :)

Where did you get your information from, because Dish's site still says (SD121) for Milwaukee locals...

And tech support doesn't know anything about it... ?

Look here starting from line 3
Also you can check it with receiver.

Hmm, interesting... I just had a second dish installed last week in order to get the 129 location for my new ViP 622 receiver and the Voom channels... I guess I should've waited a week. Why doesn't tech support know this stuff when you call? I'm kinda frustrated because they didn't know I need a second dish or a new switch, so the technician didn't have all the equip. and had to come back... now it looks like maybe I didn't need it after all... ? Crazy!

This is a classic case in point as to why you need to deal with a LOCAL retailer and NOT that 800 number for dish!!! :bang:

We have been telling all our customers for about 6 weeks now, or more to hold off
because of changes forth coming and will now begin to start installing again. ;)

This kind of crap from poor CSR's is what drives me crazy! :bang:  :bang:  :bang:

Sorry for the extra crap you had to deal with because of dishes lack of judgement
in these matters. If you have future questions about dish I would be happy to help just contact me directly and hopefully this kind of stuff will be prevented in the future.

That is what makes sites like this sooo extremely important!!!!

If you can get me your contact information, I'll contact you directly next time! I'm in Sheboygan, is that OK?

This all started because I saw the new HD packages on their website, so I called to get more info. The person I talked to told me to hold off until April 1st to get a rebate on the 622, which I did, but no one told me that it required me to send in my 921, which I paid for. I guess I would've liked to know all the info. up front. Then the person told me I would need to have it installed because it required a "different" dish, not an additional dish. I called back because a friend of mine called for the same reason and the tech told him that he needed an additional dish... sure enough I needed an additional dish. I asked if there were any single dish solutions in the future or if she knew what satellite the locals would move to... she had no idea. So I said, "If I get an additional dish installed, no matter where they move to, I should be good, right?" She agreed, and so... Well, they also never put that on the work order, the installer got there and luckily had a dish 500 in the van, but no dpp44 switch that I needed, so he had to come back out the following day. All his work order stated was "Install ViP 622 Receiver"... Huh? Well, I could do that myself...

So, now I have a satellite farm on my room that I don't need.

Would Dish charge to come out and take down both dishes and install the 1000, so that I could get it down to a single smaller dish?

Also, the reply before said I could tell from the receiver what channels were on which satellite, how do you tell that... ?

jsmith

Actually I just noticed you were from Oostburg... I think I've talked to you in the past about antennas... ? Are you from Custom Communications... ?

bradsmainsite

Yes it is, so  you should have my number just call and well see if we can come up with a solution for you.  If not I'm in the local phone books.

As of today just noticed Greenbay locals are already on 110 transponder 23 which is a spot beam or (cone).

The locals are working from 110 perfectly.  They are already mapped to the low numbers too.  My wife records on a TiVO attached to a Dish 301 that is using a  2 LNB disk 500 only seeing 110 and 119.  The channels are there and working.

Thanks for the heads up!  Getting her locals with the TiVo is good brownie points.  The OTA channels have a lot of interference problems for us on a regular basis.  This should make her happier.

This was a good move by Dish and I hope they don't screw it up later with further changes and additions.

Stay tuned!

Ok, but has anyone noticed pixelation on the local stations since the change... I've noticed it and so has a friend of mine. It's only on the local stations, you can see the pixels breaking up with motion... it's weird, I know I'm not the only one.

bradsmainsite

Have not noticed, but have Greenbay locals and off air for milwaukee.

Have not received any complaints from our customers on this issue yet, but will
take note from here forward.

Thanks for the input!

I noticed pixelation on those channel when they first came on.  After a one reboot of my 622 they were fine.

Another thing to note for Dish subscribers most people never shut their tuners off, yet you must shut them down or they will not receive any software upgrades!

At least once a week shut your receiver off overnight so if there is any upgrades for bug fixes or enhanced features your receiver will download these.

That is so true for the Dish 811HD, but the 522 SD DVR will reset at a prescribed time, menu selectable, with updates, schedules, and whatever, without ever needing to turn it off.

If I leave the 811 on overnight, it won't refresh the schedule, and will do a complete re-boot if I access the schedule menu.
