So what is everyone getting?  Or are you going to get both or wait for the dust to settle?  Im torn between waiting or getting a Blueray player this summer.  I personally think that blueray is the superior technology given that it has more storage space and the ability to put SD and HD content on the same disk.  But it seems like HD-DVD is back from the dead and with the advanced release Im thinking a lot of people might jump at it and it could win out.  What do you think?

I'm going to wait. I have no need to repurchase all the DVDs I own just to get a newer format. If I get a larger display, I will get one, but that's going to wait until 80" 1080P LCDs are down under $12K, so I figure about four years.

As for the format war, Blu-Ray is superior which means that HD-DVD will win

HVD - Holographic Video Disc blows both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD out of the water so that means that will go into hiding and resurface after we all own HD-DVDs.  :bang:

But I'm not bitter...

I was wrong on the cassette/eight track battle. And I was wrong on the VHS/Beta battle. So I'm waiting for the sure winner!

Can you just go out and pick one, and let us know - so we can buy the opposite? ;)

Oh, yeah - if I had $500 to blow on what would undoubtedly be a disposable piece of equipment, I'd be in line right now to buy a HD-DVD player, for one reason:

Serenity. In. HD. :)
