Kudos to TMJ4 / NBC

Sunday night on The West Wing (one of my absolute favorite shows, I will be sad to see it go), about 23 minutes in during the thunderstorms, the show cut out (I was watching it on TWC channel 504 in HD)

About that time the most severe part of a storm was raging in the Milwaukee area...  I imagine something storm related must have happened to either the network feed to the affiliate, or the affiliate feed / broadcast to TWC (perhaps lightning struck the broadcast tower?  Can someone say what happened for sure?)  Anyhow, I can hardly blame the affiliate or TWC for the outage, 'stuff' happens, especially during severe storms..  But its how you react to the 'stuff' thats important, I think

Anyhow, about 30 seconds after the outage they switched to the standard definition feed of the program.   Sorta sucked that the show was out for 30 seconds, but at least they got it switched over somewhat quickly without having to dump to commercial or a test pattern or something, which is what I was expecting...  I was quite impressed..

Anyhow after that I was expecting to see the rest of the show in standard definition (oh well, at least its better than not at all), but all of the sudden about 26 minutes into the show (3 minutes after the original outage) the show suddenly switched back to high definition...

I was amazed and surprised!!  They didnt even wait for the next commercial break!!  All of the sudden, in the middle of a scene 3 minutes afer the switchover to standard definition, it switched back to high definition!!  

So, I am not sure exactly what happened with the affiliate or the network (heh, since I was watching it on TWC, as far as I know TWC did the switching and got it working!! ....  oh darn, can someone please smack me upside the head for even THINKING that would be the case!)

I think that TMJ4 should be commended (assuming this is an affiliate thing, which I imagine it is) for not only bringing the show back after the outage, but then going that extra mile to bring the show back to HD without even waiting for the next commercial break (which would have been more than good enough for me!)

Someone over there must really be on the ball!!

Well too bad those idiots just hired Meredith Viera... what a joke and what a diss to the other women on the show. :wave:
