Generic HDMI vs Premium HDMI cables

Can anyone tell me how comparable a generic HDMI cable, say from Radioshack for $40, is to a "premium" Monster HDMI cable that retails for $120?

PC World Magazine did a study that said both types of cables perform the same and that there is no discernable difference in picture quality.  I'm wondering if anyone has tested this concept.

Bent over either way. Go to svideo.com or monoprice.com. Monster is for suckers.

If you need to have B&M, Big Lots used to have Philips cables on the cheap.

The Oxygen content of the wire Monster uses is much higher than all those "other" cable manufacturers. This results in much better audio and video quality.  This is acomplished using proprietary processing technology pioneered by Monster Inc.

The process is called "Hot air injection" using the lastest "Hype" techniques.  This results in higher gross profit with no increase in performance.

No difference. Get a long one on ebay for like 15 bucks. I did!

I have numerous HDMI cables for my HDTV's, receivers, DVD players, etc... and I have "cheap" cables on all of them.  They are just fine.  Don't buy into the hype.

With HDMI it's all digital... so you're either getting a signal or you're not. Quality degredation is actually impossible with HDMI... you either have a perfect digital signal, or no signal at all.

I have heard rumors of some "bad" cables producing artifacts in the picture, but that's something you'd notice right away... when entire areas of the image are missing, constantly freezing, or just giant blocks... you'll notice. ;)

(And PLEASE don't confuse that for signal issues that all HD providers are going to have once in awhile. If it's a bad HDMI cable, you'd be noticing it on everything passing thru the cable, even analog channels [2-99 on TWC].)

Thanks for the heads up guys.  Talos4, your reply cracked me up.

My Humor is pretty dry, It's a little difficult to convey that on the message boards.

Most of time, people don't get it or take it the wrong way and usually ends up killing a thread.  So I keep it to myself most of the time.

This time I couldn't help myself.    ;)

Better watch it.. we'll change your title from "registered user" to "thread killer!"
