As it looks to ramp up its digital broadcast offerings, Sinclair Broadcast Group is signing on to carry music-video service The Tube Network Television on its TV stations.

Sinclair is the third major station group to affiliate with The Tube. Earlier in March, Tribune Broadcasting committed its stations to launch the service this summer. Raycom Media has been broadcasting The Tube for nearly a year in many of its markets.

Sinclair owns or operates 58 stations in 36 markets, including top 50 markets such as Pittsburgh, St.Louis, Minneapolis, Tampa, Fla., Las Vegas and Baltimore.

"Sinclair Broadcast Group's broad reach enables us to penetrate pivotal markets, lending significant depth to our audience," The Tube CEO Les Garland said in a statement.

The Tube broadcasts videos by classic bands and contemporary artists. Viewers can purchase music they see on-air through the network's Web site or over the phone. The Tube says it will provide stations with the opportunity to insert local advertising and locally produced programming, such as concerts.

Sinclair stations will begin launching the service this summer.

I can see it now.  Rather than affiliating with The CW, WVTV-18 will probably become a 24/7 video music station carrying "the Tube".

I think 24-1 is going to become The CW.  That leaves 18-1 to become whatever they want to be.

I hope it's 24-1, since they have the newer HD equipment, and from what I've seen, it produces a better image than 18-1. (Although that could be due to the network/source material as well.)

The fate of 24-1 has already been decided.

It was announced a few weeks ago that WCGV-24.1 will be the affiliation of My Network TV.

I haven't notice the difference.    Anyways 24-1 is going to be My Network TV.  I'd say by this summer WCGV will probably replace the "UPN 24" slogan to "My 24".

Meaning no HD from 24.? Might as well sell your HD stuff eh?  Fox said that everything on My Network TV will be "inexpesively" done.  read into what you will.

Are you saying that "My Network TV" isn't offering anything in HD???  That's weird, everyone else is.  I'd think that for a new network they would want to have ALL programs in HD.

NO ! I'm saying that based what I've read they are saying that it's going to be done "inexpensively"... HD equipment is expensive I'm just saying that it is a good possibility that it may not be in HD.

I took notice this past week a lot of stations are also offering their 2nd Digital channel to offer "My Network TV" and "The CW".  Should WISN-DT or WITI-DT offer that, no doubt it will make users of this board unhappy because that would mean eating into the HD bandwidth. Would be even worse for WTMJ-DT because it would have to be their 3rd side channel.  Of course they wouldn't be able to offer any of The CW programming in HD.  Therefore I hope WVTV-18 picks up The CW.
