Hi,

I am new to this so forgive me for my stupid questions. My question is:  Right now I have a Directv High Def/DVR box. I also live in an apartment so I cannot put up an antenna. I also live in Grafton. I heard that it is possible to pick up local stations in High Def using an antenna? Is this true? What I would need is an indoor antenna that I could place by the TV since I dont have an attic. I also would like to know how to attach it. Do you put in on the back of the Directv box and then reconfigure my setup to dish and OTA antenna? That would seem the most logical, but what do I know? Please let me know also what a good antenna would be to purchase. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply, but that is my question. Would I be able to pick up HD local stations with an antenna like this? Also, do I attach it to the box and reset my config to a dish and an OTA antenna?

Yes you will be able to receive the locals and you need to reset the config to dish and OTA and then let it set it self up.  The major networks, NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX and PBS are all high power so you shouldn't have a problem.  UPN and WB aren't high power but you should also be able to receive them.  I can receive them with a stripped piece of wire in the store in Grafton (metal roof) and get them no problem, not a real antenna and we're down in a hole.

Any suggestions for a good indoor antenna that would be able to do the trick? Thanks again

See the tinyURL above in the first response to your question...It's right at Target in Grafton so it's in your backyard.
