Still need OTA antenna if you have TWC?

I'm a newbie to all this and to Milwaukee as well. I've been reading all your posts about picking up HD locals via OTA antenna. However, I'm a tad confused...if you already get HD locals with TWC, why would you need an antenna? I am not assuming all of you have TWC, but it's a viable option for getting HD locals, right?

Also curious, those of you who do have OTA...what kind of antenna are you using? Am I going to have to spend a lot of money to get a really good one? I don't want to have to install one..just want to plug something into my tv and leave it there, inside my place.

TWC doesn't carry all of the locals.  You won't get WB, UPN, PAX/i whatever it's called- its multicast channels and some other religious channels.

Indoor antennas don't work that well.  I have rabbit ears from an old 13" set I bought a long time ago.  I get everything except the extra religious channels because they're still probably at lower power.  I frequently have to move my antenna to get stations because of different weather conditions... storms, wind, etc.  I'm roughly 12 miles from the towers.  I also tried an amplified indoor antenna and had worse reception than the rabbit ears.

In GBay, WI TWC does not carry these OTA locals:

    FOX-HD(not TWC's fault), WB-HD, UPN-HD, & the really
fuzzy Madison WPT PBS- SD dual sub channels......

Madison WPT is really at fault for PBS-HD plus dual SD multicasting
channels that are a fuzzy, poor picture 'mess'....

Madison feeds TWC the same HD compressed fuzziness rather

than the robust National PBS HD signal......

    13 mbps + 3 mbps + 3 mbps  = 19 mbps Madison 1080i lack of 'quality'.

Please give up on 3 channel multicasting....   Not HDTV, please !!

Is PAX an HD channel?
I understand the the other two are HD for prime time, but PAX???

Remember, the CW network dissolves these other two and no one is sure who gets the lone HD network channel in September (maybe a TWC-friendly source?)

 :D

No PAX/i is not HD.. I was just saying what you get OTA that you don't get on cable.

If it's one of the two, I'd hope it's 24... newest HD equipment = best quality. :D (At least as far as I know... the little bit I am able to receive 24 HD, it looked better than 18's HD.)
