Hey all,

My old iRiver 20GB MP3 player has died so I'm in the market for a new player.  I've currently got about 15 GB of WMA files.  Probably not going to use any photo or video with the new player.  Any suggestions for a new player would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I would go with an iPod. it would be a bit of work converting WMA to MP3's or into itunes. You will more than likely find a program that does it. I am on my 2nd ipod here and they both work great. One is in my car and the other is my room. You can pick up used ones pretty cheap on ebay, craigslist.org or the Apple refurbished site.

iTunes 6 will convert unprotected WMA files for use on an iPod.

I recommend the Creative Vision M. It's available from Crutchfield for $249.99 after coupon. I have one and it works great. I sold my iPod Video to get it.

I've used devices from Apple, Dell, Creative Labs, and Phillips.  The iPod is simply the best.  They know how to make a friendly, functional music player.

That's nice but have you used the new Creative products.

The ipod has all the hype around it, but it is not the clear winner out on the market.

I own a creative labs' "Zen Touch"

It had 24 hour's worth of battery life long before the ipods even dreamed about it.
And I find it easier to use.  The Ipods's jog wheel drives me nuts.

Not to mention, that you can use many of the creative units as portable USB harddrives, and that they can use multipal file formats, not just iTunes.

My wife owns the newer Zen Sleek

Ipod PROS: Trendy(the only reason they sell so well)
Ipod CONS: horrible Wheel, really Poor Sound, Low battery life, Apple's I-tunes crap

Creative Zen Sleek PROS: Great Appearance, Great Sound quality (really high signal-to-noise ratio), Custome & Pre-set Equalizer sound options, FM-radio, long battery life, PC-Friendly (Windows Media Player)(not to mention other music formats)

Creative Zen Sleek CONS: Doesn't have the number of accessories in which ipods have.

Here is a review for anyone interested

You can partition the Ipod's drive to store anything. The partitioning is dynamic.
