I thought ABC did a good job.  The only major mistake I noticed was at the half time show.  They had the audio level for the Rolling Stones way too low.  Other than that, I thought the picture and sound quality were good.

I also liked that there were more HD commercials this year.

The game was actually pretty decent too.

Any thoughts?

Dumb question.  I get WISN OTA.  I was not getting the sound in 5.1.  does WISN not broadcast in 5.1?

Tom Snyder

I was wondering about the graphics that ABC used for their player info package... the screens that come up with the player photo, the college they came from, highlights and whether they are going to the Pro-Bowl, etc. The fontface was reminescent of a 50's style car nameplate.. I thought maybe it was just because the game was in Detroit...

Until I saw the commercial for the upcoming Pixar movie "Cars," and couldn't believe was a total rip-off they were of the film's title graphics.

Coincidence that ABC/Disney finally announced that they were buying Pixar two weeks ago and then the most watched TV event in the country looks like a subliminal, shameless plug for the movie?

God bless America!  Gotta love capitalism  :D

We enjoyed it in our house.  We thought the presentation was well done.

The worst aspect of the show was the half time show.   Yes the sound was messed up, but worse was seeing the Rolling Stones in HD!  Yuck, those guys are ugly!    I've seen more flesh on a fossil.

Isn't it about time for the Rolling Stones to retire and be put in a case in the Natural History Museum?  :D  :D

My vote for best ads are:

1) Fedex

2) The Bud ads - in particular the "Magic Fridge"

3) The Lost ad with Robert Palmer's "Adicted to Lost"

4) CareerBuilder.com - the monkeys.

It was good to see more ads in HD.  It really does make them much more interesting to watch.

Matt Heebner

My favorite ad was the one with the guys doing "roof repairs" on the roof, with the cooler/tool boxes, and lawn chairs.
It was great!

Yes, WISN-DT broadcasts in 5.1 sound.  You weren't on analog channel 12, were you?

Halftime show was horrible. worst I've seen in the last decade.  Somebody do a sound check before the show starts...  Game was great picture was good.  Best ad has to be FED EX.  :D

At least they got the message for a few hours that their obnoxious bug interferes with all programming and pulled it for a time. The halftime show was just awful, even worse than the folly of a game. Either accept a nipple or cleavage to show up on rare occasions or be prepared for sets to go off. It's gone from bad to worse and now awful. All male acts >75y just doesn't cut it.

I think the pregame music and halftime show was poorly mixed with several missed audio cues.  The missed audio cues happened quite a bit during the Stevie Wonder songs.  At least the gameplay was clean.
Also WISN/ABC messed up the audio during the Hank Williams intro.  It appeared to me they temporarily switched to an anolog audio source until Al Michaels was about 30 seconds into his speal.  I almost rotated my antenna to Madison.

My commercial votes are as follows:
Best
1. Fedex Caveman
2. Ameriquest (That killed him & Turbulance)
3. Careerbuilder.com (both monkey ads)
4. MacGyver Mastercard

Worst
1. Whopperettes
2. Blockbuster
3. Aleve w/Leonard Nimoy (I am a Trekker to the bone but that was just lame)
4. Godaddy (too much hype with no delivery)

Nope.  I was watching 12-1.  It must have been some sort of other operator error.  I couldn't bump my receiver out of PL II.  Oh well.  I blame the Guiness and Harp. *L*

Ameriquest (That killed him)

I forgot about that one - too buzy laughing and drinking beer :drink:

I'd also put that one at number 2.

I thought the whole halftime thing sucked as did the commericals.  The only commercial I really liked was the Ameriqust commerical with the woman trying to stand on the airlpane during turbulance (and she falls on the guy turning his blinders into a gag and stattling him).
