Capture card with digital inputs?

I'd like to get a video capture card that has either a component or DVI/HDMI and digital coax inputs.  My plan is to record on my HD-TIVO, move the box to the computer, and begin archiving.  The reason for doing this is to backup OTA and D* programs (ie Mythbusters, or programs on HDNET or whatnot).  I realize that I can use the "save to VCR" option if the TIVO is connected to a DVD burner, but I think this is too time-consuming, I cannot edit out commercials, and I would like the ability to backup in HD if possible.  I'm running Windows MCE on my PC.  I checked newegg and all I could find were regular OTA tuner cards.  Any thoughts?

If these existed for a reasonable price, I'd already have one. But hey, maybe I missed something. Anyone else?

Yeah.. it would cost thousands of dollars to do that.  Your cheapest route would be to go firewire if that box has it.. but then again you'd probably only be able to take OTA stuff from the box if this is even possible.  So you're pretty much stuck to capturing through s-video or composite.

No firewire, but there are 2 USB ports.  Who knows if they are active or not?  Why only OTA?  If it is recorded to the HD, it should be fair game right?

The USB isn't active for anything. If the firewire is active, you can get the proper software and drivers installed on your computer to record from it, but the only channels you'll be able to record from is channels you could get for free off-the-air anways.

Microsoft has announced that future versions of its Media Center system will work with computers that have a cable card slot in them. Check out this post, in case you missed it:

That won't be for a year or so. But, this won't work on your existing recordings.

Too bad you won't be able to buy it stand alone.  Only certified systems will be allowed.. Certification is about $100k so only the big boys will offer it
