The NFL network is going to carry Saturday games and a game on Thanksgiving day night.

Yes they will be blacked out on Sunday Ticket, it's completely separate.  Sunday Ticket is for.... Sunday games.  NFL network is not currently available in HD.   Games that will be on NFL Network will also be available locally in the markets of the teams involved, just as it is today with ESPN games.  So if the Packers have an NFLN game next season, one of the local stations will have the rights.   But it's doubtful it would be in HD.  I can't imagine a Packer game in SD.  Yuck.

I do recall though that the NFL network broadcasted some of the games of the week in HD on one of the channels in the mid 90's on D*

The NFL network is done in HD but very few providers carry the HD channel.  But you are right that it would probably be shown in SD.  If D* picks up NFL HD it usually would be shown on both channels.  NFL HD in HD and on whatever local affiliate picks it up in SD.

Our Comcast system shows the NFL HD programs on its INHD SE (Special Events) channel.  E* shows NFL HD on channel 9466.  It shares bandwidth with 9464, NBA HD & 9465 HD PPV so only one of those will be on at the same time. AS of now, the main HD that NFL has had is its game of the week.  I'll bet by fall that its increased and its pre game, post game & 8 game package are all in HD.
