Shame on those stations for not providing State of the Union in HDTV.  There is no explanation why they chose not to broadcast it that way.

Are FOX and CBS carrying it in HD? If the network doesn't carry it, then 6 and 58 can't carry it (unless they break with network programming, which would be HIGHLY unlikely, if you ask me).

Irrelevant it should be up to the local stations to drive demand for it if the National Networks are being idiotic.. it's not the National CBS and Fox that will have to field the complaints if it was up to them we'd still be watching Black & White TV.

I don't think it's irrelevant. It'd be one thing to yell at WITI and WDJT if they opted out of a network HD feed to show a SD feed instead -- and we DO just that whenever the local stations switch to a SD feed to show some useless graphic onscreen or whatnot.

However, to yell at the local affiliates and call it "inexcusable" if indeed it's the only feed that they're given to show, that's a little out of hand. If you want to yell at someone, yell at the networks themselves for not presenting it (especially since the pool video that all the networks use WAS indeed made available in HD).

Again, I don't know if CBS or FOX actually had a HD feed available to the affiliates or not, which is why I raised the question.

Bluto

WISN-DT got my eyes last night.  Kudos to them for carrying the State of the Union in HD.

CBS provided HD feed DirecTV carried it.  CBS 58 did not... valid complaint to correct source.

Fox 6 is Owned and Operated by Fox again the correct place to lodge the complaint.

NBC and WISN did a great job... it should be up to the National Networks to provide HD to make their affiliates competetive with the other stations it's up to the local station to make sure they ask for it especially when the same program runs on all the major networks. Otherwise they look second rate given that they've already spent the money on the equipment that we know works.

FOX News provided the SOTU speech to the network. The network had nothing to do with it other than rebroadcasting what was sent. FOX News is not set up for HD.

Does HD or SD change the message?

No. But it does change the appearence of the message :)

Why are we complaining? Two seperate networks provided it in HD... I personally watched the horror on NBC. Vote with your remote. ;)

techguy1975

the boob in charge  is bad enough in SD, I dont wanna see him in HD! :bang:

Of course by this I'm referring to the ridiculous 1 hour of applause we all had to sit through. Nothing political here.

Tom Snyder

You think THAT's ridiculous? You should hear the applause WE get from our members when we delete innapropriate political posts and close the threads that produce them.
