Samsung SIRT165 and DTV28 not working

Over the weekend my SIRT165 would reset itself over and over whenever I tried to tune DTV28.  I sent an email to WTMJ on Sunday.  As of tonight I no longer get resets but the 165 never locks onto the station.  I saw on AVSforum that 3 other people in the area were having similar problems so its not my unit alone.  I also called Samsung and they are looking into it as well.  Hopefully this will get taken care of soon since WTMJ has the HDTV shows I watch the most.

I have the exact same issue with my T165.  The first few weeks it would reset once the first time I tunedto 4-1 (28), and after rebooting, it would tune in fine.  I could then change channels, and when I came back to 4-1 it was fine.  The next time I would turn it on, it would reboot the first time I tuned to 4-1 again, and then be fine again after.

Now, I can't get 4-1 at all.  The unit just keeps rebooting.

Pat - I didn't rescan, but I did manually delete the channel, and then tune to it by pressing the numbers on the remote (as opposed to channel up/down)

I'll try rescanning.....

I noticed on the AVS Forum that johnmark first reported this problem early on 11/17.  That was one day after we changed our video & audio Packet ID (PID) numbers because of a problem we were having getting the fiber feed to Time Warner Cable. The change also involved the over the air Packet ID numbers.
A week later new equipment was installed and we switched back to the old Packet ID numbers on 11/26.

Both times my older Samsung 150 got confused and would not display video on WTMJ-DT until I did a complete rescan of all channels. People with non-Samsung boxes did not report any problem.

As Pat suggests - do a rescan and let us know what happens.

Well the rescan seems to have cleared up the problem.  After the rescan, 4-1 (28) came in right away.  However, after flipping through channels, and then coming back to 4-1 (28), the T165 did reboot again once.  After flipping through channels a couple of more time, it didn't reboot at all.

I'll see how it works tonight.

On a unrelated item, does anyone know how to display the firmware version on the T165?  I tried some of the same type of things used on the T150 & T160, and they didn't work.

My T150 had the same problem as Sean's at the same times.  A rescan fixed it each time.

Incidentally, I have a newer (2 years old?) Panasonic analog set which apparently drifted a little and stopped getting channels 5 and 6 on cable.  A rescan was the only way to get it to work again.  It was my wife's TV for treadmilling, so it sat that way for a few weeks and never recovered on it own.

I did the rescan as suggested and it works great now.  I should have thought of it sooner!
