Quote from: kjnormanI did a rescan on my HR10-250 last night and there is no 4-2 on my reciever.  It did come up with 24-2 though which turned out to be the same as 21-1 (but had a different PSIP name).  That was surprising.

24-1 had the Bucks game at 7pm
24-2 had UPN Prime programming in HD at 7pm

Outside of the 7pm to 9pm time slot the programming was the same on both channels until this morning (24-2 was turned off).
We will do the same on Wednesday.

Great idea, Jimboy!  Good use of a subchannel.

That is the best idea I have ever heard! Great job to whoever thought of that!

Now I have to go ad rescan before Wed night to make sure I don't miss any programming  :)

I just checked TitanTV and they don't list a 24-2 (25-2) for Wednesday night. Will that be listed sometime?

I guess for now, I can check Chicago's listings and manually set the recordings to 25-2 and see what happens.

For me better show Bucks in HD and UPN in SD :D

Games are produced by the Bucks and are not in HD ... so it would be pointless to do so.

Back to the original posting of this thread.

I've only seen WTMJ-DT do 4-2 a couple times back a couple weeks ago.

For the last 2 weeks I have not seen anymore of 4-2.

So whats up with that?

Although I enjoy the olympics, just not for the length of time it's on during prime time, day after day.  The 4-2 sub channel would come in handy now for those of us that would like to see the regular NBC network programming.  If that is at all a possibility. :)

They came to their senses and read about how bad it was interfering with their broadcasts in other markets. Or so we hope.  :D If only CBS58 would give us back the additional 2Mbps they stole from CBS late last year or the entire 4Mbps. :(

Just saw a commercial the other day. They mentioned something about "local weather is about to change. WTMJ and Time Warner Cable bring you something new in the future". Don't quote me on that because that's not exactly what it said. But at the end, the video faded out with a plus sign. Could this really mean that TMJ is getting Weather Plus?

I just saw this too. It sure as hell better be fiber optic to TWC and not OTA. The complaints about Weather plus run on and on and on for months if you want to read them all. It's a cause of horrible artifacting and pixelating during all shows like Las Vegas, all Sporting events, and all live coverage. There is not enough bandwidth available for NBC's HD feed and the 2Mbps of Weather Plus.

Yep. I got an email last year from WTMJ saying they were working on it,
and NBC wants the medium-big markets to have it at the very least.
90 stations have it now, covering 75% of the population with signal. NBC
would most certainly want Milwaukee on that list. They debuted it in Chicago two days before Christmas on-air in 2004, but waited 3 months to put it on cable to get the bugs out. Maybe a 3/1/06 launch on 4-2?

Weather Plus will definitely be announced tomorrow - may not be going live tomorrow, but they'll definitely have more info tomorrow. John Malan was going on and on during tonight's 10:00 newscast about a big announcement tomorrow that he couldn't talk about.

Well then I'll be calling as many nights as possible to gripe. We have too many subchannels and weather subchannels and we sure as hell don't need this one given NBC's inability to broadcast at 17Mbps nationally.

Here's the official news release:

TODAY'S TMJ4 Launching 24-Hour Local Weather Channel on Time Warner Cable

Milwaukee, Wis. – The weather is changing in Southeast Wisconsin.  TODAY'S TMJ4 Vice President and General Manager Mark Strachota announced today that the local NBC affiliate will team up with Time Warner Cable to provide local viewers with a 24-hour weather channel.  The channel will be called TODAY'S TMJ4 Weather Plus and it set to debut on March 2, 2006.

Local weather is the focus of TODAY'S TMJ4 Weather Plus.  Even during commercial breaks, viewers will see current conditions and local forecast information.  The Storm Team 4 Meteorologists (John Malan, Paul Joseph, Jim Ott, Mike LaPoint and Craig Koplien) will also appear on the channel every few minutes to update the forecast.

"Our viewers consistently tell us that local weather is extremely important to them.  TODAY'S TMJ4 Weather Plus allows us to offer that weather information twenty four hours a day, seven days a week," said Strachota.

Jack Herbert, Time Warner Cable Wisconsin President said, "Time Warner Cable is continuously adding diverse and unique programming to meet the needs' of our viewers.  Weather affects us all, locally and nationally and Time Warner Cable is pleased to partner with TODAY'S TMJ4 to provide this valuable service to all of our digital cable customers."

In addition to running on Time Warner Cable channel 104, TODAY'S TMJ4 Weather Plus will stream live on //www.todaystmj4.com.  It will also be aired on TODAY'S TMJ4 digital channel 4.2.
