According to articles I have read the station must apply to become an affiliate like our local batch of CBS, NBC and ABC stations which are not owned and operated by CBS.etc...only our FOX station is.

Actually, I am hoping that Sinclair does not get the chance to get The CW because it and TWC cannot agree on carriage rights and therefore the HD cable sub gets no HD channels as it is with other Sinclair locations throughout the country, WB or UPN or what other network.
For you that can get OTA, great, but many of us are HD cable customers and the repeat situation would be just awful all over again. :(

So........any chance we may see the Bucks or Brewers in HD?

I believe the games we air are produced by the Bucks. It would be up to them.
We currently do not air the Brewers.

Thats basically the Brewers decision to carry all their games on FSN cable.  I wish they would reconsider airing some games on ch. 24 again.  I know ch. 24 would love to carry the Brewers like they used to.

Bad idea. Its fine for us near the Mil but the rest of the state gets screwed over. My buddy in LAX constantly bitches about how many televised games he can't get because they aren't on FSNN. I was the same way when I lived there. Fat chance at getting a WB/UPN station up there to pick up 24's coverage. The Bucks are shutting out a great portion of their fanbase. The Crew has it right, going with nothing but FSNN.

All Bucks & Brewers games hould be on FSNN AND in HD. Same goes for the rest of FSN programming. I don't care if its HD or not, run the damn digital SD feed like everyone else.

Absolutely they are missing the boat by not having all Bucks/Brewers game in HD.  I've talked with the Bucks many times about this but they don't seem very interested.  Once you watch any sport in HD it's very hard to watch in SD.

just one more reason to do Local HD programming in HD   :D

I find it amazing how much programming is HD on 24-1.  I thought they would only have a couple of shows in HD.

If WCGV becomes an Independent in the fall, maybe they can bring back the one hour game show "The Bowling Game" and produce it in HD?

Bowling Freak

P.S.  Not holding my breath on that.  It was popular on WVTV back in the 70s but by the time it hit the mid 80s ratings were very poor, so they axed it.

Really and why should those who can't afford it period be screwed over by FSNN

Wether you can afford it or not is a choice you make. Being entirely shut out is no choice at all.

Since when is fact that some can't afford something a choice?

That's a fairly elitist point of view, don't you think? I hate to burst your bubble, but most people could give a rat's butt about HD and more so about the Brewers/Bucks in HD.

But for those, like my mother in-law who is on a fixed budget and a huge Brewer fan, the only way she gets to see the Breweers is if she's over at my house. Otherwise she is forced to listen to the radio.

Most Brewer fans are older and may not be able to afford the outrageous cable bills. I see the Brewers screwing their major fan base by going to FSN exclusively. I hope the Bucks don't follow suit.

Because you have x amount of income and choose to spend it on product/service a & b but not c.

I think about all the people I know and the overwhelming majority have either cable, D*,  or E*. FSNN is included in the cheapest packages. I can count the people who have only "free tv" on one hand w/o using all the fingers and the reason they have only "free tv" is because they almost never watch it anyway.

However, this is getting way complex than my original post intended. Of course having the Bucks/Brewers on "free tv" ala the Packers would be ideal and I would fully support that provided it's statewide just like the pack.

stvnce

I'll agree to drop it.

I just think you need to realize that sometimes, the "Choice" is really not a choice at all.

If the 'BUCKS TELEVISION NETWORK' keeps games with WCGV/WVTV (whoever is independent).  Next season those 'BUCKS TELEVISION NETWORK' productions have a very good chance of being shown in Madison.  Right now the only reason UPN14 doesn't show the games is their UPN affiliate contract (being a newer upn).  Green Bay has a WB and UPN, if an independent is created the 'bucks television network' could air there too.
Just adding a station in Madison & Green Bay would satisfy a huge bucks audience.
Maybe some home games would leave FSNNorth.

and maybe the brewers could follow later...
