I just noticed that channel 24 is now broadcasting a HD signal, don't when they started.

I noticed it too.  Nice!

Does UPN-HD offer DD 5.1 sound?

Doug Mohr

Awesome! I haven't noticed because Veronica Mars is the only show that I watch on UPN and there haven't been any episodes on yet this year.

UPN currently does not offer their programming in DD 5.1
We are set-up to pass it when they do.

Then again, you won't have to worry about HDTV on WB or UPN, soon, or the battle of getting it on TWC, either. :D

That's great... too bad Everybody Hates Chris clashes with Smallville. :(

Thanks for the update. When will the power "up-age" occur? I can get 24 plus other locals, but 18 is in a completely different direction than everything else.

Tubes (IOT's) are expected to arrive in late April with installation & testing beginning in May. If all goes well.

Roughly where are you located?

It appears that WVTV is going to loose its affiliation with "The WB" and WCGV is going to loose its affiliation with UPN this fall as both networks are shutting down.

There will be a new network taking over called "The CW" a subsidiary of CBS Network I think.  One of the 2 stations, either ch. 18 or 24 will carry The CW while the other one will go back to Independent status, or both may become Independent and not carry The CW at all.

So because if non of the stations carry any network programming, they won't be able to offer any High Definition programs.

We finally make it to HD and they are ready to pull the plug at the network  :guns:   Very frustrating  :bang:

If Smallville is still on when that happens, not receiving The CW will not be an option for me. I'll have to either get a giant antenna or work something out so I can get another market's version over satellite.

Kind of ironic... the day The CW is announced is the same day 24-1 goes HD.

Ironic.....I don't think so
24-1 started HD on Friday 1/20/06.  The equipment was ordered long before that.

If we knew what was going to happen on Tuesday with the network changes there's a good chance that 24 would not have switched to HD or even bought the equipment to do so.

Of course, the real question...

Who gets "CW" in Milwaukee this fall? And what happens to the station that has NO programming now?

Who gets CW?   Don't know.

What happens to the station that doesn't get CW?  They need to fill 2 hours each evening with alternate programming.    Movie?
