Does anyone else have this problem on 512 on TW Cable?
Also, they are late throwing the switch alot. Isn't that all automated?

I'd like to know how they do that...so I can build something to do it for all my commercial tv watching.

I don't know if I'd necessarily be upset if I didn't get audio for the commercials. Sounds like a blessing to me, especially for those "I'm a Ford truck man" commercials.

I have noticed that they're late throwing the switch, though. Last night, "8 simple rules" was in squished definition for the first 5 minutes or so.

I don't mind it, actualy it is kinda nice, I was just wondering if my surround system is set up wrong.
Is there any TW customers from Racine on this forum?
Also, often there is no sound on either 504 or 512.

mr_yeti

Does the sound drop out and then come back? I've been having that problem, and I started a thread on it in this forum.

Yes, it does that occasionally, sometimes there is no audio at all and I have to switch to the standard channels.
Does someone have to litteraly throw a switch to change from HD to "analog"? Can't they set it up so anything that comes in HD automaticaly be sent out the HD signal?
Seems technicaly backwards to me.

lummox its called the "mute" button.

akitakoi- I have a question for you.

Does the Dolby Digital light on your receiver light up? And if so does it light up all the time or just during 5.1 programming?

Yes someone here actually has to flip a switch to change to the HD program. Normally what you see on 512 is an upconverted version of our analog signal to HD. Mr_yeti, the switch doesnt always happen on time because the person making the switch usually nas about 15 other things going on at the same time. Top of the hour is usually busy. Most of our analog side is automated, but everything has to be checked before it airs. And since we are in CST a good portion of our shows are tape delayed, and he/she might be checking to make sure tape is rolling.
The more we learn about our HD equipment, the more we realise that is was primarily intended to simply get some sort of HD signal OTA. It has very limited automation and graphics capabilities.

Hi Paul,
It only lights up when I am getting 5.1.
