Comcast commercials?

Whats with all the Comcast commercials all of the sudden? Is it because there are a lot of national broadcasts going on?? Or, are they trying to make a market here?

Joseph S

The Comcastic stuff is definitely more entertaining than pigs flying or the other TWC commercials, but I'm also wondering why there's an onslaught for a service we aren't able to get.

On other forums I read about the same thing is happening in other parts for the country. :D

One reason could be that TWC and Comcast are swapping out locations like in the Twin Cities and Dallas as they take their shares of the now defunct Adelpia Cable, doing some sort of balancing act.
Advertising "Comcastic"  is what keeps the new customers, hopefully, from going to a dish system like to Dish or Directv.

If we DID have a choice like Comcast, we would lose HDNET, but have the Sinclair HD stations like WB-HD and of course, Cinemax HD and Starz HD which
(big surprise) TWC does not care to carry. :(

It looked to me like these were national (network) spots.

Yup... national spots. Also, everytime I've talked to a friend with Comcast, they can barely get their Motorola DVR's working correctly, and their cable internet... lets say I'd rather have dial-up. Be happy we have TWC in this area... very happy.

We'll, we have Comcast here &, other than 1 6412 which froze, our Motorola DVR's have worked just fine.  I switched to them from E* a yr ago strictly because of Comcast Sporstnet HD. (Still have an active E* account for their HD & superstations.  Switched this summer to Comcast internet and have have no problems with it.  This coming from someone who really hated cable.  Other than adding some channels, the only thing they need to do is to duplicate the analog channels on digital to improve signal quality.

Mark Strube

Everyone's experiences are different I guess... you're really the first time I've heard anything good about their internet. My friend has gone thru three DVR's from them and it still has issues recording 2 shows at once, and half the series recordings don't stick.

Just came back from Florida (again) and found that the "Comcastic" commercials exist there, too, with Verizon Fios and Brighthouse Networks...so it just occurs naturally everywhere, commercials, that is. :)
Brighthouse is launching Universal HD from what I have heard and read locally.
As for Comcast, my friends and neighbours to the south of me are happy with their Comcast service including the HD movie channels we don't get and WB HD unlike TWC subs here. :D

Okay, have a laugh on that one...but when TWC DOES get competition with all the HD locals
(including the Sinclair HD channels) that will come from Directv later next year, watch the TWC HD subs flee their subscriber-base, to say nothing of any HD nationals Directv may be adding, too, by then. :D

Competition is good...I'd take Comcast over TWC any day, from what my contacts tell me and what I have experienced, as it makes for more choices and better pricing...monopolies like TWC, don't.

Once again, franchising agreements really need to go away!! It should be illegal for any kind of local government to get involved in business contracts like this. :bang:

Hey... what do you think Comcast is, a corner media store?

Mark Strube

Once again it's very subjective, just like with TWC... many people have great experiences, many have horrible. In my case, I've heard nothing but horrible things about Comcast, especially their internet service. About a year or two ago if you were having internet problems, and you said you had Comcast for an ISP, you'd get laughed at.

No, not really...what I meant is that  when TWC does get competition like Directv beaming down all the HD locals, soon (including the 2 TWC won't deliver) like Comcast does, we will have no more monopoly on what we can watch for HD as subscribers.
Comcast now works with Sinclair (like Directv) and TWC could care less.

Comcast carries Cinemax HD and TWC doesn't, even though its parent company, TW, owns the darn channel. :(

Hmm... Time Warner, Warner Brothers, WB... how's that for irony. :p
