Can anyone confirm what Marcus uses for butter topping for their popcorn?  I talked to them and they told me canola-based butter (called Popntop or something close but not ODells), but I'm not sure the pimply teen on the phone knows what I am asking.  Of Marcus and AMC my wife and I like Marcus's topping better and I would like to be able to reproduce it at home.  Regular butter doesn't taste the same and it leave a grease-ball feeling in the stomach.
Seeing a similar topic at AVS peaked my interests so I decided to find this out.

Marc Cuban's popcorn tastes better. It's actually popped corn rather than bagged.

A couple of my friends work at the one in Menomonee Falls... I can ask one of them.  I'll see if I can get you an answer later tonight.

I worked at the "Paradise" theatre in the 60's. Some of you may remember "Buttercup". It was served in a conical container. Price $.75 cents.  This was the popcorn that your mother served at home. You know, actuall butter. Listen. we are going to the theatre, not the gym or spa. We want real flavor, not that garbage they are serving. If they are so worried about what we are ingesting, then they might as well get rid off the "Good & Plenty", " Milk Duds, etc.

Personally, I don't get popcorn. I would also venture to guess that when they all collectively went to this substitute, the sales decreased and will never return till we are offered the real thing.

Concessions are like options on a car. Its where the real money is made.

Bottom line!!!!!!!!!!. We are here to have a good time, not be politically correct.

I once saw a jug (about a 1/2 gallon) of buttery-flavor topping on the counter at the Marcus South Shore.  I looked at the nutritional label,

*** Advisory warning:  If you enjoy movie popcorn but are also somewhat health conscious, stop reading now.***

and there was no butter listed, but it did appear to be calorie-concentrated animal fat.

........in addition to my earlier post........"coconut oil"  is used when "real" popcorn is made...........Why?, because it has no after taste..................
