TWC Audio cuts off via fiber out from TV to Receiver

I have a Panasonic 42PX500 with a cable card from TWC.  It's connected via fiber optic to my receiver for the obvious.  With analog stations and HD broadcast stations it works as it should, but with any of the premium channels, HBO HD, TNT HD, Discovery HD, ect., when I flip to those channels I hear the audio through my receiver for a second and then it cuts off; TV audio is unaffected.

Has anyone experienced this?  TWC Tech and I tried a few things including a new card, pinging it and upgrading the service; no change.

Panasonic 42PX500 Plasma
Sony HT 1700D Receiver

Thanks all.

I sounds like you might have to swap out your receiver

   as a testing step also...

   What receiver do you have?

Are you using bitstream or PCM setting..?    Bitstream has
        DD 5.1 capability

Is audio cable to receiver:     Optical,   Coax, or Red/White stereo?

Onkyo receivers offer good bang for the buck......

Have you tried swapping the optical cable?  Is your plasma still set to output digital audio?

I don't think it is possible for TWC to alter the type of sound that the TV outputs.  When I used the CableCard on my Samsung DLP, all audio, no matter if it was an analog channel or HD channel, was output to my receiver through the optical.  I have had other TV's that do switch between analog and digital outputs (Sony LCD Projo and Toshiba DLP) with the CableCard depending on the channel, but never had a problem with that either.

Yes, I tried different TOSLink cables.  I cannot change the audio output from the TV; I can connect RCA outs or the TOSLink.  All stations work fine; analog stations output PCM 48 and the broadcast HD stations output whatever format it's in, beit 2 Channel DD or 5.1.  I just can't get anything from the premium HD stations, HBO, TNT, ect..

Also have the panasonic plasma with cable card - exact same issue.  But I have a panasonic XR70 receiver.  In addition - when I try watching DVD with audio through TV - no digital surround - just analog 2 speaker.  When I hook audio to receiver direct from dvd player - no problem - anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

This is an issue with TWC and CableCard protection modes. From what I understand, TWC prevents digital audio output from premium channels.

Here's a thread on this from AVS Forum.
