Tonight's Ghost Whisperer has a true 5.1 surround track. Way to go WDJT! Finally!

PatM

The only problem is that the control operator has the audio REALLY cranked up tonight.
My normal setting is a vol control of 17.
Tonight I had to crank it back to 27 and it still was too loud.
Volume has been excessive  on all programs at times.
Worst on Ghost Whisperer  and almost as bad on numbers    :bang:
It was so annoying that I switched back to SD.

Personally I'm glad we finally have 5.1

I will check it out when I get home as I have been extremely disappointed about the whole 5.1 thing from CBS58 as were others in the forum for some time.
I think it was CSI in 5.1 that a forum member was compliaining out - the sound was supposed to be so cool and all.
When I get back from Florida (and hopefully dodge Wilma) I will check out the 5.1 surround on my 8300HD DVR...thanks CBS58 in advance! :)

You mean CBS in general CBS 58 didn't have 5.1 on CSI at all yet.

StarvingForHDTV

Finally!   Thanks for the news flash.

Snoogins was asking a short time ago about his DD5.1 surround for CSI in Milwaukee as other CBS affiliates had it and Milwaukee didn't have it.
That was my reference there and again, if it IS on for real 5.1 for our CBS58 station, great. :)

As soon as the hurricane here in Florida leaves the state I can get my flight back.
Before, we had higher surf, 65+mph winds in the bay, bridges closed, flights cancelled, schools along with many businesses closed and hotels booked to the max. To the east and south of me are tornados on the ground, F0/F1 sporadically and it is just best to stay where you are until it eases more.  :(

By the way, Brighthouse (formerly TWC here) Cable does not offer UPN in HD or The WB HD network on its cable system due to the same idiotic Sinclair mess we have in Milwaukee.
As to the NE of me, in Orlando, there is no such concern and they get all their HD locals (no Sinclair issues) including WB HD and UPN HD.
Just thought I would fill you folks in Milwaukee about this (misery loves company). :D

The Sinclair issues are everywhere... I was listening to the Diggnation podcast from LA and they mentioned how they don't get the WB in HD on their cable.

Kind of ironic... we have Time Warner Cable, yet we can't get the Warner Bros. network in HD... or even digitally. The WB is losing out on a good number of potential viewers due to Sinclair's idiocy... they'd be smart to threaten breaking off from them.

Make it home safe!!

Yeah, I was new the HD world as far as Milwaukee programming was concerned, so I just assumed it was in 5.1, and was surprised when it wasn't.

Wouldn't you know it, I erased my CSI series recording this week for this reason!  Oh well, thanks CBS-58 for getting this issue resolved.  Looks like I'm back on board!

Now they just need to drop that worthless multicast WLMW channel so we can have the full ~19mbps CBS video stream... it's reference quality before it gets downsampled to ~14mbps so they can carry that useless channel on the same RF.
