My wife wants to add a second HD ready TV to the home. Wohoo!

My current D* package includes a HD receiver (on first HD TV) and a Tivo receiver and the Total Premier package. If I added a HD Tivo (is the $199 special still available?) would I get charged for the $10.99 for another HD package? I know if you have the Premier package and have two Tivos you'll only get charged for an additional receiver but not for additional Tivo service, does the apply to HD package also?

So, the new setup would be a HD receiver, HD Tivo and regular Tivo with the Total Premier package. Will I be billed for 2 HD packages?

I figure someone out there is in the same boat and knowing the typical D* CSR; they'll be very confused. This will be after I try to get the HD Tivo out of them.

I have what you describe.  The $10.99 is a flat HDTV package fee, no matter how many TV's.   Additionally, the $4.99 monthly fee for "TIVO" applies one-time, no matter how many TIVO boxes you have.

As for the $199 HD TIVO deal ($299 less $100 rebate) I took advantage of that two months ago when it came out.  Also got a $60 programming credit.  Direct TV was great, the CSR's were great, and I just had to commit to two years of staying with Direct TV.  However, now I read that the offer is not available apparently.

My guess is you should get the offer if you are a long-time subscriber and get a good CSR when you call.......

I tired to get that deal two weeks ago, tried several differnt CSR's... one I called, the other two actually had called me.. one from promotions and the other from retention, and none of them knew a thing about the promo. Let me know if you have any luck...

Tom, its too bad you couldn't get that deal......I would have never thought that was a one-time or short term offer.....I figured the $199 would come down to zero by the end of the year, as long as you took a 2-year programming committment

Not sure why that happened, but I do know Direct was having all sorts of issues with the bad HDMI on those TIVO units.....I sent mine back.....maybe Direct figured it was costing more to send out those units at the low price and have to keep replacing them, so they figured they would crank the price back up and just wait until the new MPEG 4 units come around....

The HD Tivo is pretty much close to $0 cost with programing credit. The HDMI on my unit actually works.

These are basically obsolete units. I don't know if they are being manufactured right now. My unit doesn't even have a manufacturing date. If their stock is low. It's harder to get the deal.
