Okay Directv customers, this is a really dumb question and I should know the answer for this.

Are you getting the national FOX HD feeds as Milwaukee is a O&O area?  I'm not getting them, but I think I should, so I guess I will have to chase up Dtv customer support to activate them.  Or, has something changed here?

Thank a lot for having patience with my stupidity  :D

Kerry.

I live in Franklin and I get the Fox and CBS national feeds from DirecTv.

I had to ask DTV to request a waiver before they would activate FOX HD.  It took about two = three weeks to get the waiver.  This was granted before FOX went full power so I'm not sure they are still granting the waivers.  Worth a try.

I'm in Racine county and was given the FOX national feed out of NY. It was only a phone call and was prior to channel 6 going full power.

I called Directv today and they said that I have to request a waiver.  So I have started this process.  They said it could take up to 45 days.

But now Fox is full power and that I can receive them okay (well I think I can - haven't watched too much fox yet) it will be interesting to find out if they will still grant it.

How did you get the CBS feed?

I think my husband requested a waiver, looks like we started getting it in June of 2004.  We were paying for it at first.  Earlier this year it became free.  The line item on the bill now says Network:  CBS HD Available w/ Local or HD Pkg.  The Fox line item says the same thing.  I had to call them and cancel the 'pay' version of CBS after I noticed the 'free'  line item on the bill.

You do not have to request a waiver.  You need to get to a svc rep who knows what they are doing or an HD specialist at D* who knows what an O&O national feed is.   Hopefully sooner than later, you will find someone to turn it on for you.

The national Fox feed is available to everyone in our area @ no additional cost.   Just make sure they know that our Fox station is an O&O station.  If they don't understand ask for someone else.

My FOX HD out of NY came on without a phone call back in Feb/Mar or whenever it was.

It is nice especially on Sundays because sometimes the NY feed is different than the local Fox 6 broadcast (I have NFL ST so it doesn't matter to me) so your selection of NFL games is bigger sometimes.

Having spoke to several more people on this including supervisors I'm getting that same response.

They state the rules changed in July and even for O&O markets like Fox in Milwaukee they have to submit waiver requests.   Other markets they are not even allowed to submit waiver requests (so they say).

So if you got Fox HD NY before July do not disconnect it, because to reconnect you will have to jump through hoops and may not even have your request granted.

Okay I got Fox5 out of New York after about a week in the end.

However I must state that I do not know why anyone would watch this channel as the picture quality is just attrocious.  Granted I have only seen it late at night when they are broadcasting older shows upconverted, but still the snow and grain on the picture makes me think I am in the 1970s!!

Perhaps it is better when they broadcast true HD rather than their late night SD junk, but if you can get Fox6, I do not know why you would ever what this channel.

I have NFL ST so it doesn't really matter to me, but they often will have a different NFL game on Sundays than the one we get on our Fox 6.

So that would be one reason.
