I know mhz40 has been looking into these... I've been watching Hope & Faith OTA and just noticed one of the 2-3 second long dolby digital dropouts during the network commercials. I always get a few of those per show when recorded on the HD-DVR but just always assumed it was a problem at TWC. Guess not.

Also, to anyone at WISN - do you guys always have to have the giant 12 in the corner of the screen during the HD programs? You already have the station ID at the beginning of every show and the constant news commercials... we know we're watching channel 12. ;)

They clearly do not, considering one of the Hearst Argyle prize stations in Boston doesn't pull this crap.

I only watch WISN for Invasion and Monday Night Football.  The digital audio dropouts really make me hate the network even more.

I'm guessing you have TWC? As much I can't stand their switch flipping history and logos, the audio dropouts on WISN are something that seem to happen for me far more often on TWC than when viewing the OTA feed. Maybe once a week OTA versus every three minutes on TWC. NBC audio dropouts are universal OTA and QAM.

I am using the TWC CableCARD service.  I had the dropouts with the QAM tuner as well.

TWC has the little blips and small glitches, however the REALLY bad ones, the 3-4 second dolby digital dropouts, I get on both OTA and TWC evenly. There's a problem at WISN, and I wish someone from their engineering team would address it here.

Agreed. I get them all the time it seems. I'm receiving via OTA. It sucks.

Its not just TWC, I'm suffering the audio drop outs from WISN as well on a DirecTV HD Tivo (aka HR10-250).  The audio will drop for 1 o 3 seconds which seams like an eternity.

Most ennoying, especially as ABC has some of the better shows at the moment.

Are the longer audio dropouts only when we're in true HD or do you hear the audio dropouts on upconverted SD as well?

Mark Strube

I'm not sure... I mainly watch Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal, Commander In Chief, and Invasion on ABC, and I get these dropouts during all of those shows, but I don't watch ABC very often when it's an SD upconvert. Can anyone else comment?

I just notice one about two minutes ago during Monday Night Football.  It lasted about 2-4 seconds.

I'm receiving the broadcast in HD and over-the-air, not cable.

Another 2-3 second audio drop out just now, during MNF.

We haven't give up.

We have been monitoring base-band audio tonight and have received no 'Loss Of Audio' alarms.   So...  Some receivers have an AC3 indicator light on them.  When you loose audio does this light turn off?  Or does the AC3 light stay on when you lose audio do you just loose one (or more) channels of audio?

Well I only watch WISN for LOST on Wednsday.  You should try watching Leno,  NBC sets the record for audio problems with dolby.  All weekend NBC was Ok and tonight right up untill Leno, not a single problem.  Soon as Leno started there has been audio drops every minute and a half or so. :guns:

I believe all audio is lost. And yes, the dolby digital (ac3) light stays on, as if the signal is still there.
