I'm doing another test tonight (Monday). Until 8PM, watch our station's DT and post if any difference in video quality from last Friday.

thanks

I watched about the last 10 minutes of Wife Swap.

Looked to me like you picked up some detail in the upconversion. It's hard to tell for sure because my set has about a 3-4 second delay in the digital/analog channel switch, and there weren't any static detailed images to compare.

Overall impression was that the HD was a bit crisper than the SD, and I think in the netting in the batting cage scene and the fine print in the final credits, I saw a real difference.

I didn't see any difference in detail last weekend during the game.

These are shots from the national ABC HD upconvert/HD credits on Invasion versus the WISN upconverter. The WISN upconvert shot is about the best it ever gets on the upconvert which isn't saying much.

I compared local news PQ on Ch. 4, 12 yesterday at 6pm and at 10pm.
At 6 they were on par, but at 10pm ch 4 picture was much better.
I don't know, maybe ch.12 engineers work until 6.30pm?

Something you guys at 12 should look into... you're the only station that when it's the non-HD upconvert feed... my receiver refuses to go into Pro Logic mode. It's a Dolby Digital 2.0 feed, but you guys have it set so it goes into Stereo mode. All the other stations when in 2.0 have a flag in the signal that makes the receiver go into Pro Logic mode. Kind of annoying.

Hearst Argyle's WCVB produces an equally inferior picture. Same story as here. All the other locals look fantastic, including UPN/WB.

The CBS affiliate's news picture even puts 4 and 58 to shame. Absolutely amazing quality for SD upconvert.

SD? Who wants SD? :D

Ah I love my new HD cap card.

That's not a very flattering picture of Chloe though. :)

I don't think the Michigan v Iowa game could look any worse than it does. Ugh.

What about Wisconsin game. Very BAD PQ :( .
OK, I switched to Chicago ABC 7-1 and it looks VERY GOOD :)
What is going on with WISN PQ?

If you don't get to watch the atrocious quality of the Sat afternoon games on WISN. Check out tonight's game. It's looks just as bad.

Watching Commander-in-Chief the other night, the engineer forgot to switch back to HD after one of the commercial breaks, and so for about 10 minutes we had to watch the SD version over 12-1.  My god, the SD feed of this program was just awful.

It was especially hard as just before I had watched (also to my annoyance) the SD upconverted version of Surface on NBC, but that picture looked pristine (for SD) compared to the garbage that ABC was serving up.

Why should the SD feed look so bad?  WISN you should be ashamed of yourselves!

I saw that during Commander In Chief too... not only was it upconvert, but they left their HD "12" logo on the picture. So we had 3 logos: HD-12, 12, and ABC. :bang:

IMO, that's the reason for the poor SD quality... too many keyers in the line (and don't forget the 'weather' unit that can shrink your picture down to the sise of a Buffalo nickel).
