Anyone know if the Milwaukee area will see this anytime soon with SBC?  I've been reading about Verizon Fios and it sounds pretty nice.  15mbps down/2 up for $49.99 a month.  It also has the capability for IPTV.. another choice for HD content instead of cable or satellite.  I haven't seen much about SBC doing this, unless they're keeping quiet about it.

Good luck finding out!  I have an explosion of residencial and commercial growth here in the town of Jackson.  I contacted SBC many times over a month and a half period of time last fall about when they would be extending DSL to my area, since I,m sitting right in the middle of all this growth.  The most comprehessive answer I got was.  We don't know at this time, and if we did we couldn't tell you.  So needles to say I went wireless with Netwurx out of Hartford.  Couldn't be happier.  Especialy at $19.95 a month.  My average speeds are between 2 and 3 Mbps.  I had SBC dial and wanted to stay with them and go DSL.  Oh well.

Any news on FIOS? I added myself to Verizon's notification list but that doesn't give us any ideas when it might be coming to the area. :(

If you google "SBC project lightspeed" you will find a bunch of information about SBC fiber plans.  Unfortunately not much of the information is actually specific to Milwaukee however....

Yeah I'm sure we're not very high priority on SBC's list.  I doubt Verizon will offer FIOS to our area since they aren't the local provider.  I only know of them being in northern WI.. but they may be somewhere around here too.

I have Verizon in Belleville just south of Madison.  I'm not sure if they are the local provider for the whole Madison area or not.

Verizon has an EVDO setup in Milwaukee and Madison for cell phone coverage.  It is wireless broadband and covers most of the city unlike WiFi hotspots.  I've been lucky enough to get the EVDO service as far north as Mequon already.  If you have Verizon, you can add the V-Cast program for $15/month to your cell phone plan for unlimited internet (does not use your minutes like regular Mobile Web).  I usually average about 1.5-2 MB down with my bluetooth connection to my laptop.
