I'm watching the Packers vs Bills preseason game (08/20) and notice that the WTMJ radio broadcast is significantly behind the Analogue TV signal, and only slightly ahead of my Dish Network SD feed.  Does this mean that theyr'e syncronyzing the radio signal with the DTV over the air signal?

Not sure, but it did seem fairly well synched to TWC channel 4.  I also checked 504 briefly and it too seemed pretty well synched.  I suspect both 4 and 504 are digitally encoded and sent to TWC over the same connection.  Its the encoding process that causes the lag more than anything else(unless its sent a far distance suchas to a satelling) so I immagine the ota digital feed would have a similar lag to TWC 4 and 504.  If they did consiously introduce a lag in the radio broadcast, I suspect it would be to synch it with cable (given the user base).  But it probably has a side effect of synching with the digital broadcast.

I've been watching the Packers and listening WTMJ radio for a long time, and this is the first game I've ever seen where WTMJ didn't Sync the broadcast to the OTA/basic cable analogue TV signal.  If WTMJ is going to continue this time delay, it may be time for me to finally get a HDTV.

WTMJ radio has been syncing the Packers radio broadcasts to the analog standard definition TW cable feed for many years.
But the old analog TW cable boxes have now been replaced with standard definition digital cable boxes.
So this season, for the first time, TMJ radio is syncing their audio to the TW digital cable feed - which is "behind" the TW analog feed and the analog over the air signal.

So is it causing problems, Sean?

I remember, back in the Jim and Max days you guys used to get flooded with complaints when TMJ Radio got out of synch with the TV broadcast.  Wonder if it's still the same with Wayne and Larry.

Hate to say it but I used to listen to the TMJ feed back then, but not so now... especially with Dolby 5.1 on the TV broadcast.

Which begs the intersting question: is the HD radio capable of doing Dolby 5.1? Now a synched Wayne and Larry with 5.1 ambient stadium noise and field noise ... that could get me back! :)

How about DirecTV?  Do (or will) the radio broadcasts sync up to broadcasts better on D* now, too?  Also - since all Brewers games require cable/Sat, could we get them sync'ed too, please?  PLEASE???
PRETTY PLEASE??? :OnAir:
