Anyone here painted an aluminum boat?

I recently bought an old jon boat I'm thinking about painting. What am I looking at as far as prep before painting? I assume I need to use special marine primer and paint? And I do not have a compressor or spray gun. I would be using brushes and/or roller. Can you recommend where to buy the products? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Walk into a Sherwin-Williams and tell them all of that. They'll hook you up with everything you need!

Paul, I went to Sherwin Williams and they told me I need to use marine paint, and they don't sell it. The paint guy at Home Depot told me the same thing. I was hoping to avoid marine paint due to it's cost. Oh well.

Try calling a used boat dealer.

I don't think you'll hyave much of a choice in the matter. You're gonna need it because of the submersion/exposure to water. Sorry!
