ABC-DT Football HD or not?

For the ABC Football Game:  Iowa vs Iowa St today

    TWC says no HD

    Titan Tv says HD yes

   ABC TV-2 Green Bay shows no HD after two ENG phone calls...

    Is the ABC Network Ia vs Ia State game in HD?

And I'd like to know why the Ohio State vs Texas game isnt being broadcast in HD on TWC like it's supposed to be :mad:

This game was not supposed to be in HD.  There was some confusion on some other forums as to HD or no HD but in the end it was just supposed to be an SD game.

Too bad though, it's a great game so far.

It just amazes me how many big-time sporting events are still broadcast in SD.  How long will it take for the networks to invest in some additional HD equipment?  I would think the viewership would climb a bit if they would broadcast in HD. I haven't seen any numbers lately, but I'm sure the percentage of households with HD sets is exponentially climbing.

DirecTV only has like 600K subs with HD IIRC. I don't know if mhz40 can tell us, but TWC probably isn't too many more, even WITH leased equipment. To top that off:

1) nielsen STILL doesn't count HD broadcasts
2) people will still watch the games anyway

there is no incentive to increase HD at a faster rate than it is already increasing (and let's not act like it's not increasing). Until Nielsen starts trakcing HD channels and can show that people are switching off non-HD programming, or until HD equipment becomes incredibly cheaper, don't expect the adoption rate to change.

What bothers me the most is the choice of game that is shown in HD.  ESPN had a game in HD, but by far the most important matchup of the day was Ohio State and Texas, show in prime time over the air.  I ended up watching more of the LSU and ASU game just because it was in HD.

This happens every week the best game of the day is on ABC in SD.
