When watching Monday Night Football on WISN last night, the picture didn't seem quite right at times.  I'm not sure if I'm describing this correctly, but the picture seemed almost stop-action in nature - instead of a smooth picture, there were short hestiations in the picture.

Did anyone else notice this?

For what seemed like almost the entire 2nd quarter I was seeing a jerking motion. Live footage was not fluid. It looked fine but the motion was definitly not right. When they would do a replay it would be fine so it just seemed to be live footage. By the start of the 3rd quarter it was back to normal for me.

I was still quite pleased to be getting this season underway even if its only preseason :)

I noticed it too.  Like a low frame rate.  That's how 6-1 used to look back when nobody could get their signal.  A little bit better than what we saw last night.

I am watching someone's dog while they are on vacation.  They have a 40+" Samsung DLP  I was interested to see MNF in it's native 720p.  Of course the people that own the TV had the TWC HD DVR set up to output 1080i......  I fixed that right away.

I have to say on a small screen like that 720p looked very nice.  The DLP technology is exceptional.  No convergence issues, which is nice.  I could only see rainbows if I moved my head from side to side.  Kind of annoying, but I would still consider owning one.  I'm going to wait for 1080p DLP and try that with a larger screen.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add.  Had some pixelation on 512 also.  Maybe TWC needs to adjust their antenna......

Man, me too.  My first season of NFL Football in glorious High Definition.  Thursday night is going to be GREAT!

I'm glad it wasn't just me seeing the jerky picture last night.  I'm too young for my eyes to be going. :)

Rainbowing?  I guess I'm fortunate that I don't notice that.  Whats does it look like?  Or since I can't see it, maybe I don't want to know? :)

I noticed it pretty bad as well.  It was almost like a strobe effect on the picture.  Very annoying and unwatchable.

I wonder if this was just a local issue with WISN, as the thread on MNF over at AVS makes no mention of these problems and they are usually all over that stuff.

Anyone from channel 12 /  or in the know that can answer this?

Bluto

It sounds like it was a network issue.  Someone at HDTVoice mentioned they had the problem too.

AMEN to that!

I noticed Thursdays game is being shown on WISN 12 and ESPNHD. My guide does not show the 12 broadcast being HD and with ESPNHD actually being SD with fancy bars 80% of the time I am wondering if we will get to see it in actual HD.  I will keep my fingers crossed.

Well by using how it works last year with the games, we should get it in HD on ESPNHD and SD on WISN.   ESPN did not pass the HD feed on to the local network carrying the games.

So unless you have ESPNHD I think you will be out of luck.

That said, I could not watch Milwaukee vs. St. Louis on ESPNHD on monday night on ESPNHD and instead had to watch the FSN SD feed.  But the rules on this are different for the NFL than they are for MLB.  We'll find out on Thursday.....

Todd Wiedemann

Making the leap that this year will be the same as years past ...

WISN will not be carrying the HD broadcast due to contractual obligations with ESPN.

I dug *a little* and couldn't find the confirming post / email.

It's <--------- back there somewhere. :D

I only saw rainbows with certain types of things on the screen.  Other types of programming would not trigger the effect.  Once I had the correct rainbow material on screen I could see them virtually at will.

It all started when I looked at something away from the screen.......  The first time it happened I dismissed it.  The second time it happened I became more curious.

Be happy that you can't see them.

Tom Snyder

I think this is the thread Todd was referring to from last September:

Milwaukee's Official Packer Station

TitanTV is showing the game in HD on ESPNHD, but not in HD on Channel 12.

After talking to a GBay HD Engr last year........   ESPN-HD

has/had a policy of doing their ESPN NFL Games in HD.....

but ESPN-HD only offers NFL games in SD to any 'non cable

  OTA' TV station...

I noticed the "strobe" effect also during the first part of the game. Made me kind've nauseous. Since I'm Oconomowoc, I've got two antennas, one pointing towards Milwaukee and another towards Madison (not enough room in the attic to rotate a single antenna) . I switched over to the Madison station and the HD picture was perfect so something must have been screwed up (again) at WISN. I called my 12 year old son in while switching the stations back and forth to see if he could tell the difference. He could, but my wife didn't notice it.
