Audio/video out of synch on HD channels

On various HD channels, I have noticed audio out of synch from video.  For example, last night, on the 10:00 PM news on 4-1, there was a noticeable mis-alignment to the tune of at least 0.5 sec. (by my estimate).  I looked at the analog channel, using D*'s telecast of ch 4, and it was right on.  So, only the HD channel was messed, and it wasn't broadcasting an HD program.

I have seen/heard this on other HD channels too, from time to time, and I don't think it is ever a network feed of a true HD program, just local stuff.  Has anyone else experienced this, and, if so, what's the explanation?

I have seen the HD transmission audio/visual sync problem

quite frequently for "up converts" of Analog to HD digital

programs.

The CPU time to convert the A/D video takes 'time'

as the audio delay remains nill.........

An 'audio/video' Digital recombiner adjustment, I believe,

can correct the sync problem manually.

An all Digital Production seldom has the audio sync Problem.
