I finally got my point to point wireless Internet access going. The hardest part was getting the wife to sign on with cutting down the tree in the way.

It was well worth it. The results are stellar. There is still some tweaking to do. I currently have a -.75 db signal, with a little aiming, I should be able to get it a little higher.

Very nice!  Your upload speeds are incredible!  Have fun.

I got the equipment off of Ebay for around $800. The partial T3 at the office is already paid for, so my reoccurring cost is $0.

I figure it will take about 17 months to recoup the equipment cost after canceling RR, but being able to upload files to the office at that speed was well worth it.

I could have gotten the equipment to do 45Mb and been able to get even better speeds, but the price for that gear was closer to $5K.

Did you by chance get Motorola Canopy modules, or are you using WiFi equipment?  I also have wireless, but through an ISP that uses the Canopy system.  Speeds are not up to what you have connecting to a T3 at your work place, but still very fast to say the least.  How far are you shooting the signal, and did you have to use dish reflectors at each location?  I had to buy my equipment at a cost of $300 to lock in a rate of $19.95 per month.  I also have a tree problem, but after installing a mini dish with the SM, trees or no trees I have a rock solid signal. ;)

edit

Sounds to me like you got Canopy equipment, because the back haul modules do 45 mb and they cost around that price range.

I have the Trango 5800 series

http://www.trangobroadband.com/products/access5830_system.htm

The 45Mb system would be the Trango Atlas. I have to stay with Trango because of a restriction put in place by the office building's roof communications management company (say that three times fast). They don't want one customer to interfere with another so they strictly control who has what facing what direction.

I am 2.4 miles away.
