Capture Cards

Doing some research on recording in HD.  I know Sony has a HD-DVR, but prices are still high ($700).  I get my HD via TWC.  Don't feel like renting their HD-DVR for the few show we record.  So.... I was check out capture cards.  Anything new worth looking at?  Have people had good luck with this option?  Any other recommendations?
