Wanted to give you a heads up that 58 will be upgrading to full power for DTV during June.

Equipment will start arriving next week and the installation should be completed, weather permitting, by July 1, 2005.

During the upgrade 58 DTV will be shut down for a period of time and I hope to have updates for the forums.

58 has a  new transmitter and new antenna to install.

There is also talk of 5.1sound for the upcoming season in the fall.

Thanks for the update Greg.  Will let you know from Oostburg how the
signal strengths are going.

58.1 & 58.2 run around mid 70's up here while everything else runs in the
low to mid 90's with exception of fox 6 which you already new! :)

I still can't get 58-1 in Mequon--did they increase their power yet?

The start of this thread says they expect to complete prior to July 1st, last I looked it wasn't July yet!

Somewhere else you had posted that the date was to be June 1--thought this was the same thread

Dad, are we there yet?  How much farther is it?  How much longer will it take?  I gotta go NOW!  I'm hungry.

In River Hills, I often get 58-1, with some pixelization, and I assume that I'll be fine once the power increases.

But, where is Fox (6-1)?  Most days, they're a no-show -- "Searching for antenna signal...".  Don't they have to do their thing by July 1, as well?  Yikes, football season is just around the corner.

WDJT took delivery of their new Thales HighPower DTV transmitter today.  They should have pictures up on their web site in a couple of days.  Looks like they are getting very close to going high power.  I'm sure a lot of viewers will be happy with the signal when work is completed.

I would assume that they are getting closer, my waiver from D* was just denied where as it was previously accepted.  However, they have not turned off my national feed yet.  I would assume that there would be a cut off date lurking...

CBS58 has pictures of their transmitter arrival on their web site under technical section.

Tim Cuprisin's column is reporting that they'll be back on at full power by Saturday.

Well, FWIW, the last time i looked -- last night -- 58-1 was off the air.  12-1 has been on and off now and then, and 6-1 is still a no-show in River Hills.  I assume 12 and 58 will be fixed real soon now (as we say in the computer business).  Apparently, 6-1 will do something clever in August.  Meanwhile, with D*, I can get Fox NY (88) when there's a high def. happening.

I've also noticed some lousy signals from WUWM-FM, and I assume that has been antenna business.  They seem to be back in full strength, complete with their stereo beacon for their music programming.  I wonder how many people know, or care, about stereo vs. mono FM (mono's range is greater) and about the little "CD" kind of display on some radios, such as car radios, when the signal is stereo.  I used to have a receiver with a little red light that lit up when a stereo signal came in.  Of course, I also used to have receivers and transmitters with vacuum tubes.  I never had a cat's whisker receiver, except as a toy from Radio Shack.  Weren't those the days!  Now, in the digital age, we get pixelation.

I have grandkids who never saw a record -- or an 8-track tape -- or a b & w TV, or....

Back on today, but no power increase seen here, yet.

As of 5:15pm today, WDJT HD and MWLW SD signals are back on the air. There should be a slight increase in signal strength and in a few days there will be a significant increase as they finish the project. The new antenna went on to the tower yesterday with final tuning of the antenna finishing today.
