I see the FCC has rejected the agreement between WVTV and WCGV to use channels 24 and 25 at the end of the DTV transition.
The FCC said "WCGV-TV's proposed digital operation on channel 24 would result in impermissible interference to the elected DTV channels for WBAY-TV, channel 23, Green Bay, Wisconsin (0.6%) and WHRM-TV, channel 24, Wausau, Wisconsin (0.5%). "

But in Chicago, FCC OK'd the agreement for WBBM to use channel 11 .. with WTTW on Channel 47.

How about 48 and 42 for "EVIL DOER" :D

I don't understand why they would even try 24 and 25 in the same region let alone with the surrounding interference concerns. You would think they would want to reach as many people as possible.

Then WCGV will probably stay at ch. 25 and WVTV will most likely move from ch. 61 to ch. 18.  Would make sense.

But definitely WVTV has to cease DTV operation on ch. 61 as it will no longer be part of the TV Band.

Channel 48? I believe thats been assigned to WJJA (analog 49).

Why would "trying" 24, 25 in this market be a problem? And why would that hamper full power digital operations for both stations? Without knowing the reasons it would be difficult to understand why it might make sense to operate 18 & 24 this way.  It would seem the FCC had no problem assigning channels 33, 34, 35, along with analog 36 in this market. Channel 61 will indeed need to go "somewhere" and the channel 24, 25 option needed to be investigated. You have to try all options.

Anyway.....The antenna for channel 25 is capable of operating two co-channel signals at full power (digital 24 & digital 25). This would allow for full coverage.
The 61 antenna for the most part is disposable and would need to be replaced once the switch to channel 18 (or what we get assigned) happens.

Not to mention that this would be easy to manage the 24&25 patten of both station since they would be comming from the same antenna and same power level.  34,35&36 all work well together considering the power difference and tower locations.  We will see what happens once 33 increases it power.  Keep in mind there is 100db between the channels.  I think that is right?
